AN emotional Billy Walsh spoke warmly of his late friend Michael E Morrison, as he launched a collectin of his writings at the Fr Murphy Centre in Boolavogue recently.
‘ The Legacy’ features three of Michael’s works - ‘Adam’s Apple’, Faith of our Fathers’, and Family Matters.’ It was put together by Michael’s parents Ed and Breda with the help of his Godfather Tony Clarkson, and they launched it on what would have been Michael’s 38th birthday.
Michael, from Ballintore, Ferns, passed away on July 14, 2014, having lived with cystic fibrosis all his life, but he never let it define him.
Boxing legend Walsh told those present that he found ‘ The Legacy’ inspirational. He knew Michael for many years, and got great encouragement from him.
The large gathering also heard from Michael’s cousin and close friend Andrew Browne, who went to UCD and Smurfit Business School with him, and wrote a foreword for the book.
Ed and Breda thanked all for their support, with special thanks to Tony Clarkson for his work on the book. Tony, who wrote the book’s afterword, travelled with Michael to Brazil in his quest for healing.
Michael wrote six well-researched and insightful works of literature, two of which were published in his lifetime. Each book in ‘ The Legacy’ is infused with his characteristic wit, wisdom, and insight. It is available from Breda on 087 6683078.
