WEXFORD PREMIER Division holders Shamrock Rovers had little trouble in overcoming Louth visitors Bellurgan United in the first round of the O’Neill’s LFA Junior Cup on Sunday.

The Enniscorthy side ran out emphatic 4-0 winners, with Seán Wildes, John O’Connor, James Carty and Danny Carroll all getting on the scoresheet.

North End United fought back from a goal down to see off Monksland United, who are riding high at the top of the Combined Counties League.

A Jason Murphy delivery was turned into his own net by a Monksland defender to leave the score 1-1 at half-time, and North End kicked on after the interval with two fine Kyle Dempsey goals ensuring a safe passage to round two.

Kilmore United chalked up an impressive 5-1 win away to Callan United, with Devin Furlong contributing a hat-trick and Darren Naughton and Jay Malone adding a goal apiece.

Bunclody were another side to put in a five-star display, beating Trim Town 5-0 with goals from Chris Kelly, Johnny Melay, Severin Gadzina, Neal Conroy and Tim Halpin.

Gorey Celtic went one better and they hit Athboy Celtic for six, winning 6-3 with goals from Darragh Curran, Mark Nolan, Niall Keyes, Dean McCann and Thomas Cloke (two).

Local rivals Gorey Rangers also had their shooting boots on as they overwhelmed Villa Celtic 6-0, with David Behan and Gary Murphy bagging doubles and Joe Bolger and Mark Woods adding to the tally.

Forth Celtic came out on the right side of a seven-goal thriller as they won 4-3 away to Arlington F.C., with Jessie Farrell grabbing a double and Darragh Rossiter and Darragh Kenny also hitting the back of the net.

On what was in the main a good day for the Wexford representatives, Curracloe United edged past Castleknock Celtic 2-1 thanks to goals from Adam Whitmore and Graham Staples.

Wexford Bohs won an all-Wexford clash against Moyne Rangers ‘B’, prevailing 6-3 thanks to a double from Dermot Flood, and goals from Seán Pailing, Shane McGrath, Aaron Lambert and Ryan Byrne.

Premier Division Courtown Hibs did just enough to beat Corach Ramblers who ply their trade a division below them, winning 2-1. Leighton Gleeson and Michael Kinsella scored for the north county side, with M.J. Doran replying for Ramblers.

St. Cormac’s beat Newlands Castle Park 3-1 on penalties after a 3-3 draw, with their goals coming courtesy of a Paul ‘Roddy’ Doyle double and an own goal.

Taghmon United tamed Lions A.F.C. and roared to a 4-1 victory with goals from Brian Doyle (two), Brandon Cullen and Seamie McLoughlin.

Adamstown also registered a comfortable home win, beating Mullingar Town 4-0, with Conor Hickey netting a double and Ian White and Colin Purcell bagging a goal apiece.

A double from Derek Walsh and goals from Terry Gainfort and Shane Murphy helped Bridge Rovers to a 4-1 away win over Mill Celtic A.F.C.

Rosslare Rangers bowed out of the competition as they lost 5-1 away to Collinstown F.C., while Fort Rangers proved too strong for Enniscorthy Town, winning 4-1.
