FUNDRAISIN­G EVENT

Following a meeting held in Kiltealy Hall on Tuesday night last week there will be a fundraisin­g event in aid of the Developmen­t of a Community Park in Kiltealy village. The Wayside Players Drama Group, Blackwater will present ‘Moll’ by John B. Keane in Kiltealy Community Hall on Saturday, October 8, commencing at 8.30 p.m. Admission adults €10, children €5. All proceeds in aid of the developmen­t of Kiltealy Community Park.

BAILE DOBH TIRE

Congratula­tions to Baile Dobh Tire (an amalgamati­on of Duffry Rovers, Marshalsto­wn and Rathnure) girls under-14 football team who won the county final beating Blackwater by a narrow margin in St Patrick’s park recently. The final score was 1-2 to 0-6. There was great celebratio­n as captain Breda Cushen, Kiltealy received the Green Acres Cup.

Congratula­tions also to the Baile Dobh Tire under-16 girls football team who had a great win in their county final on a score of 6-10 to 1-5. Captain Amy Smyth, Mohurry received the county cup amid great excitement also in St Patrick’s park last week.

DUFFRY ROVERS CAMOGIE

Hard luck to Duffry Rovers camogie intermedia­te team who were defeated in their semi-final against Bunclody which had to go extra time after a goal from the Duffry ladies left the game 3-6 to 2-9. However, after extra time Bunclody won on a score line of 2-15 to 4-6 after an epic, entertaini­ng encounter.

The club would like to thank Tom and Conor for all their hard work, time and support which they gave the ladies this season.

Both of the under-10 teams had a chance to show off their skills when they took part in an under-10s finals day in Ferns Centre of Excellence recently.

The under-eights finished their season with a mini blitz in Coolree with teams from Davidstown and Rathnure. Thanks to Colin, Melissa, Michelle, Niall, Mary, Paula and Tom for their time to help train all the girls.

The September social will take place in Kltealy Community Hall this Friday, September 30. Music by Brendan Lee, tea and refreshmen­ts served.

There will be a Christmas art and craft fair on Sunday, November 20, in Kiltealy Community Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in aid of Kiltealy Voluntary Cardiac Response. Kids activities also. Come along and get your Christmas presents, support local crafters and soak up the atmosphere. The organisers are seeking artists and gourmet artisan food producers to fill spaces.
