Local students added to WIT honours list

-

STUDENTS from Enniscorthy and North Wexford recently made it onto the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science honours list at Waterford Institute of Technology.

Nathan Brennan from Craanford; Caroline Hayes from Gorey; and Ewelina Bartos from Enniscorthy, were recognised for their achievements at a ceremony in the institute last week.

Ewelina is a past-pupil of Enniscorthy Vocational College. When the second year exercise and health science student graduates from her course, she hopes to have her own fitness facility.

Caroline has just completed her final year in the BA ordinary degree in recreation and sport. She started the course as a mature applicant at the age of 25. A past pupil of Gorey Community School, she said that in her time at WIT, she has gained a wealth of knowledge and skills, and has found something she is passionate about, and a future career path.

Nathan, a former student at Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew, is in his second year of recreation and sports management. He described the honours list as a reward for hard work and dedication. He plans to continue his studies in sport and exercise psychology in WIT.

Secondary school students are welcome to visit the ‘ Try Sport, Try Health’ event on Tuesday, November 1, at the WIT Arena. Book at www.wit.ie .
