Hibs march on

-

COURTOWN Hibs marched on in the FAI Junior Cup after they comfortably saw off the challenge of Bridgewood Celtic in their third round tie on Sunday.

The north Wexford men breezed to a 5-2 triumph, with Glen Hughes contributing a double and Eugene O’Brien, Ian Travers and Conor Fortune adding a goal apiece.

Corach Ramblers were also convincing winners as they crushed Fort Rangers 6-2 in Kilkenny. John Staples was the main man for the visitors as he helped himself to four goals, while Gareth McCurtin and Jimmy Colfer added to their tally.

Moyne Rangers fought back from a goal down to overcome Monksland F.C. 3-1. Substitute Dillon Redmond grabbed the equaliser and a double from Ryan Mahon sealed the deal.

Bridge Rovers continued their winning streak by ousting Tombrack 3-0 in an all-Wexford affair. Terry Gainfort, Kevin Murphy and Mark Mythen got the goals for the Castlebridge side.

There was no joy for New Ross Celtic however, as they lost 3-0 to Highview Athletic, while a Seán Pailing double couldn’t prevent Wexford Bohs from suffering a defeat, as they went down 4-2 to reigning Wicklow Premier Division champions Wicklow Town (see focus match).
