Residents in Ramsgate to meet to discuss town plan

-

RESIDENTS in Ramsgate Village, Gorey, are holding a public meeting in The Coach House on Wednesday, November 9, at 7.30 p. m. to voice their concerns at proposals in the draft Gorey Town and Environs Plan to put a section of a relief road through their estate.

Local resident Catherine McCord said that there is great concern at the suggestion in the Gorey South Neighbourhood Framework Plan which would see a cul de sac and parts of the estate, becoming a road for through traffic from neigh- bouring Meadowgate through to the Ramstown Road.

She said the residents will be lodging objections against the draft development plan before the November 10 deadline.

The plan suggests putting a road through a cul de sac that has 16 property owners and their families. She said that there will be submissions from those families and at least ten on behalf of over 400 house owners in the estate and their families.

‘ We bought into an enclosed estate,’ she said. ‘ The people in the cul de sac bought into a cul de sac. Planning permission was given for a cul de sac, and a cul de sac was planned and sold to sixteen owners.’

‘An enclosed estate was sold to every owner,’ she added. ‘ Now they are proposing to put a through- way through a private cul de sac. The recreational amenities that we pay for could be affected, and the quality of around 1,200 lives could be affected.’
