FINCH’S FITNESS

Finch’s fitness class runs in Ballyroebu­ck on Monday evenings at seven and in Askamore on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. – €7 per class. Also Pilates class in Askamore 8.45 a.m. on Wednesdays will continue from Wednesday, November 16.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF

Carnew Musical Society’s forthcomin­g production of Fiddler on the Roof will open in St Brigid’s hall, Carnew on Monday, November 21, and will run till Saturday, November 26. Fiddler on the Roof with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein is one of the most popular and best loved musicals of all time and Carnew Musical Society are shaping up to do great justice to the beautiful music and gripping story by Bock of the Jewish people of Anetevka (Russia) set in the early 20th Century. There are almost 60 cast for this year’s production, working under the direction of: Michael Dunbar: Director, Lar Duffy: Musical Director and Choreograp­her: Graham Finnerty.

KILRUSH/ASKAMORE GAA

Club lotto – There was no winner of the last draw. The numbers were 1, 19, 20 and 22. The next draw will take place on Tuesday, November 8, in the Thatch Bar, Ferns. The jackpot now stands at €13,600. CHURCH NEWS

FLOWERS FOR THE CHURCH – Sincere thanks to Olive Doyle and Anne Whitty who have been decorating the church each week. Thanks also to Susan Jane Nolan who assists when available. When possible they have been using flowers from their own and neighbours gardens. Thanks to all who donate such flowers.

When winter comes and flowers are no longer on display in our gardens we must buy them. To provide for this we will hold our annual collection on the door of the church on Saturday and Sunday, November 19 and 20. Your generous support for this work is greatly appreciate­d.

MASS ON THE RADIO – Mass will be broadcast live on Southeast Radio from St Patrick’s, Craanford on November 27 at 10 a.m. (Please note: to facilitate this special occasion we will bring forward our Sunday Mass time by 30 minutes for that date)

INDOOR MARKET/CRAFT FAIR

There will be an indoor market and Craft Fair in Craanford Community Hall on Sunday, November 13, starting at 11 a.m. and running till 3 p.m.

There will be 40 tables on the day with everything from fresh veg, home baking, Christmas baking, knitting, toys, books, crochet, children’s toys and much, much, more. Teas available on the day. Come along and browse. Also free blood pressure check on the First Responders stand, which will be run by a fully qualified nurse. Should there be any concerns regarding your blood pressure she will have a quick chat in private with you.

YOUNG AT HEART

The Young at Heart Party will take place on December 4 this year. Watch this space.

UNDERPASS STRICTLY

The grand finale against Clonee GAA took place on the bank holiday Sunday evening to a packed and wonderful audience. Finalists under the guidance of Tara Anne Byrne saw dancers Michael Doyle and Sorcha Kenny, Hugh Kenny and Michaela Smyth, Ciaran Kenny and Louise Redmond, Tom McCormack and Mary Louise Doyle, Paddy Doyle and Molly Tobin represent Team Craanford on the night with the assistance of James Hempenstal­l and Emma Ryan, Ollie Doran and Lorraine Doyle, Patrick Kavanagh and Catriona Graham, Derek and Siobhán Finn. They certainly entertaine­d and gave powerful performanc­es. The dance off saw Ciaran and Louise and Molly and Paddy from Craanford compete against Joe and Anna and James and Helena from Clonee. Congratula­tions to James and Helena who emerged winners on the night.

COOKERY DEMONSTRAT­ION: Prepare for Christmas with writer and TV chef Catherine Fulvio of Ballyknock­en House and Cookery School in the Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey on Wednesday, December 7. The evening commences with a cheese and wine reception from 7.30 p.m. The Cookery Demonstrat­ion starts at 8 p.m. Catherine will sign books on the evening and we hope to have local artisan producers from all over Wexford attending. GAA CLUB NOTES

Our minor camogie team stood tall when needed to force a replay in their co semi-final encounter against Ibars following a tough match held in Monamolin at the weekend. Well done to all the panel and to team mentors John Doyle, Mick Curran, Richard Fleming, Pat O’Brien.

Parents can you ask kids to refrain from any loitering at the back of the stand.

The club’s underage AGM will be held in early December; the adult AGM is set for Sunday, December 11, at 6.30 p.m. in Monaseed hall.

Well done to seven of our former club players who played a football charity match in ballyroebu­ck on Sunday last lining out were Jimmy Whitty, Mick McGovern, Paul O’Brien, John O’Brien, Richard Doyle, Padge Doyle and Ger Doran. Kilrush had a commanding lead at half time but with a motivating team talk given by their mentor Duck Kenny the team came out meaning business and went on to draw level, well done guys, hope ye have all recovered by now.

WINE TASTING

A charity wine tasting event will be held in Nolan’s of Annagh on Friday, November 11, at 8 p.m. Tickets at €12 are available in Nolan’s or from Deirdre at 087 9107157. The event is to raise funds for the Celtic Cross free primary school in India which was set up by Elaine Jones, and is run entirely through fundraisin­g.
