€500 reward offered for prosecution of dog attackers
A reward of €500 has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people who savagely beat a dog and left it for a dead in a wheelie bin in Enniscorthy.
The reward has been out up by a south Wexford resident who said he had been horrified to read of the case in the Wexford People.
‘I’m an animal lover and have had a dog of my own for 16 years. I hate animal cruelty and anything they would do to a dog, they would do to a human,’ said the man offering the reward.
The dog was rescued by two AES refuse collectors when they checked the wheelie bin which was in the grounds of a primary school in Enniscorthy.
It has since been fostered and returned to its owner who was out of the country at the time of the savage attack, which apparently took place after it broke from the family home.
A vet who examined the dog said it appeared to have been beaten so badly that it had become unconscious and then was dumped in the bin.
WSCPA inspector Cabrini Desmond described the incident as barbaric.
The WSPCA’s Brigid Cullen said she was horried at the attack. ‘No words can describe the way I feel about this or those who did it,’ she said.
