DEVELOPMENT GROUP
Ballyduff Received five awards at this year’s Wexford County Council Environment Awards: Best Environmental Iniative Award; Michelle Murphy received an award for overall winner of the Recycled Christmas Decoration competition; Kate Doyle received an award for overall winner of the National School Environment Artwork Competition; second in the Best Environmentally Aware and Presented Village and third in the North Wexford 2K Clean.
Over the last five weeks, some of our members have completed an up cycling furniture restoration course and a mosaic course on recycled materials with Ballygarrett Tidy Towns. The finished pieces will be exhibited on November 22 in Ballygarrett GAA Complex to raise awareness of the benefits of upcycling, and combine it with information stands on Stop food Waste, Composting, The Warm project, Fair Trade, Seal Rescue Ireland, and much more Come along and see the finished products.
It promises to be a great night, lots of information on grants available, and good practice advice on composting and stop food waste. Did you know every household throws away approx €700 in food waste each year. It’s free and something for all the family. Refreshments Served. BALLYDUFF LADIES CLUB
The Ladies Club will not meet again till February 2017. The next meeting in December will be their annual Christmas outing. Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing new faces in the new year.

SPLIT-THE-POT
Last year, at Christmas time, the Monageer-Boolavogue GAA Coiste na nÓg organised a very succesful ‘Split-the-Pot’ fundraiser called ‘Festive Fivers’. The winner received over €1,000 and Coiste na nÓg are organising it again this year. Envelopes will be available in local businesses and the underage coaches will be distributing them to all players. The prize will be drawn on Sunday, December 18, in the Monageer Tavern at 9 p.m., just in time for Christmas.
COLÁISTE AN ÁTHA
Coláiste an Átha, Kilmuckridge is holding an enrolement evening for incoming first year students on Tuesday, November 29. Pupils from Boolavogue NS can be enrolled between 4.30 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. but if this time does not suit, they can enroll at their convenience. The parents/guardians and the enrolling pupil must attend and you are asked to bring along the child’s PPS number as well as their birth certificate. CHRISTMAS FAIR
Coláiste an Átha is hosting a Christmas Fair in the school’s gym on Friday, November 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Local crafts will be on display and on sale as well as produce from local businesses and the college’s own pupils. Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy the festive atmosphere with lots of fun events for children old and young to be enjoyed at the fair
CHRISTMAS DRAW
The Parish Committtee are organising a bumper Christmas Raffle with 16 brilliant prizes. Lines costing €2 each or three for €5 will be sold in the church porch before or after all Masses on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
The list of prizes is: a Miele Complete C3 Vavuum cleaner, 5l can of Roundup, McCauley’s Chemist Hamper, bottle of Brandy, bottle of Paddy Whiskey, €30 voucher for the Court Yard in Ferns, a hot air styler, a voucher for two pizzas and a bottle of wine from Lawler’s, Morriscastle, €20 voucher for Sheehan’s DIY, Enniscorthy, two bottles of wine, Leisure Max voucher for onehour of bowling, voucher for a bag of coal from Rowsome Fuels, bottle of white wine, bottle of red wine, tin of sweets and lastly a tin of biscuits.
The draw will be held on December 18 after 11 a.m. Mass and your generous support would be much appreciated.
MINISTERS OF THE WORD
The Ministers of the Word on duty next weekend in St Cormac’s are Catherine Whelan at the Vigil Mass on Saturday night and Mark Gahan at the 11 a.m. Mass in Sunday, November 27. On Saturday evening, November 26, Caroline Farrington is the Eucharistic minister on duty while Kathleen Kehoe will help distribute Holy Communion on Sunday morning.
SOCCER NEWS
On Saturday, November 19, St Cormac’s under-11s were away to Glynn-Barntown and shared the spoils on a 0-0 scoreline. Glynn have their outstanding goalkeeper to thank for keeping them in the game as he made save after save to deny our lads the lead. On the rare occasion Glynn did threaten, our keeper, Callum Byrne showed his class by effortlessly keeping a clean sheet.
Playing at home, the under-13s played host to one of the top teams in the league, Bunclody, and astounded the visitors by heading them 2-0 early in the game. Joe Ivory and Bobby McKeown were the goal scorers but Bunclody pulled one back near the break and drew level shortly after the restart. They then pulled ahead and when Éanna Swords volleyed a delightful pass from Sophie Kirwin, it looked as if the sides were to be level again. But the Bunclody keeper pulled off a great save and shortly aferwards, Byron was felled in the area and Joe Ivory was elected to try and convert from the spot. But once again the Bunclody keeper made a great save and with the minutes ticking away, it looked as if they would take the points. However Byron Keane found a chink in their defence and slammed home a super strike to leave the sides tied a 3-3 in the end.
The under-15s were very unlucky to lose at home on Saturday, with visitors Duncannon taking all the points on a 1-2 final scoreline. Ryan Milling scored our goal and was unlucky on the day not to score at least one more goal as he hit the side netting on at least four occasions.
On Sunday the 20th the men’s ‘A’ team were away to Ferns and shared the spoils. Paul ‘Roddy’ Doyle got our goal in a draw dominated by St Cormac’s. Matthew Dunne was the player-of-thematch.
The men’s ‘B’ team were also away, taking on league leaders Wexford Albion and losing by 0-1.
GAA LOTTO
The jackpot is still growing in the Monageer-Boolavogue GAA lotto and has now reached €8,000. This great prize will be drawn for today, Tuesday, November 22, at 9.30 p.m. in the New Clubhouse in Monageer. Tickets costing only €2 are available from all members and local shops and pubs or in the clubhouse immediately before the draw.
The numbers drawn last time were 1, 10, 18 and 25 and although no one had all four, Peter Daly, Killabeg and Mary Daly, Tomsollagh had three numbers each and shared the €160 matchthree prize.

There was no winner of the jackpot on Monday, November 7; winning numbers were 1, 4, 17 and 23; eight matched three numbers to each receive €25: Dec Hemp, Lucia George, Mary Graham, James and Tanya Graham, Ciaran Doyle, Kathleen Carr, Heidi Kinsella, John Downey.
VARIETY CONCERT
Ballyoughter National School will be holding a Christmas Variety Concert on December 2 at 7.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, Ballyoughter. Performances will include Gorey Male Voice Choir, Stephen Murphy, SopraNumbers – Caroline Doyle and Laura Carroll, Conor Moore Drummer, as well as local school children and local artists.
