Gorey Rangers stay top of pile

-

LEADERS Gorey Rangers recovered from the concession of an early goal to take the three points in the north county Premier Division derby against Courtown Hibs.

The hosts got off to the perfect start when Colin O’Brien converted a first-minute penalty to put them ahead, but Rangers fought back to take the points with goals from Eric Quinn and David ‘Swack’ Behan.

Moyne Rangers remain two points adrift in second after overwhelming Rosslare Rangers 5-1 on Sunday. Tomás Mahon helped himself to a double, while Alan Tobin, James Peare and Ryan Mahon added a goal apiece for the Enniscorthy side.

Holders Shamrock Rovers registered their expected win against bottom side Campile United, coming out on top 2-0 thanks to goals from James Carty and Alan Freeman.

Gorey Celtic bagged three first-half goals to edge out New Ross Celtic by the odd goal in five. Seán Culleton gave the Barrowsiders an early advantage but the Gorey side were 3-1 ahead by half-time thanks to a Craig Travers double and a Ross Reardon goal which came directly from a corner.

Dylan Egan grabbed a second for Celtic but they couldn’t force an equaliser.

Darren Naughton rescued a point for Kilmore United with a late equaliser, cancelling out a goal by Bunclody’s Johnny Melay.
