SEE THE BEST OF WEXFORD CRAFTS
A CRAFT exhibition and gift fair opened last weekend in Wexford Arts Centre showcasing the talented work of members of the County Wexford Craft Trail.
The craft fair, which was officially launched by Tom Banville of Wexford Local Enterprise Office, will continue daily right up to Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including weekends.
From tree decorations by Gráinne Kenny Design of Mount Alexander, Gorey, to rugs by Ceadogán, there are handmade gifts in natural materials at prices from €10 to €1,000.
Festive visitors can expect to see pottery by Paul Maloney, Mairead Stafford and Patricia Howard, fused glass creations by Annette Whelan, woven tapestries by Terry the Weaver, hats by milliner Patsy Flood O’Connor, bronze horse heads by sculptor Gilly Thomas, striking metal sculptures by Dainius Varnelis, rings by goldsmith Martin Doyle, silver jewellery by Lina Varnelius, pots by Kiltrea Bridge, furniture by Padraic Parle and silk scarves by Mairéad Cairbe.
Members of the Craft Trail are at the forefront of County Wexford’s craft renewal, creating products that evoke creativity and demonstrate mastery of hand and eye.
In the upper gallery of the Arts Centre, all members of the trail are exhibiting together for the first time, showing their best pieces, in an inspiring display of what Co. Wexford has to offer.
