CHURCH NOTES

Feast of the Immaculate Conception: Mass will be celebrated in Ballymurn on Thursday, December 8, at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy is extended to Mary Grannell and Kathleen Darcy on the death of their mother Mary Teresa Delaney, Brocurra, Adamstown. Her funeral Mass took place in St Abban’s Church on Tuesday, November 22, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

GAA NOTES

This week’s lotto numbers were 8, 17, 18 and 20. No winner, no match three. Lucky Dips: Neville Fanning Jim Kelly jackpot €10,000.

Christmas Draw: the club is holding a Christmas raffle, with a first prize of €1000, second prize is a load of fire wood. Third and forth prizes of €100 and a fifth prize of lunch for two in the Riverbank Hotel. Tickets on sale at €5 each or three for €10. Please support.

SOCIAL DANCING

Our next date for social dancing in Oylegate Community Centre is Sunday, December 11. Music is by Chris Dallet. This is Chris’s first visit to Oylegate as he makes the long journey to us from Northern Ireland. He a very popular figure on the dancing circuit so a great crowd is expected. Dancing is from 9.30 p.m. so come along early. Admission is €8, with the usual tasty refreshmen­ts served.

GET WELL WISHES

The five ‘Radio Stars’ were Molly Gallagher, Shona Proctor-Laird, Sarah Walsh, Faith Masterson and Niamh Larkin-Cooney. They were accompanie­d by the director of Scoil Mochua’s Music Group, Mr Hamish Stuart along with Mrs Carmel Codd, Tomasz Osinski, Jennifer Parkin and Marianne Cooney.

They played ‘Five-in-a-row’ which was composed by Mr Stuart to commemorat­e the senior hurlers’ historic and unique 5-ina-row of Co. championsh­ip hurling victories, 2009-2013. Then Shona and Faith sang ‘The Ballad of Oulart Hill’ composed by Mr Kevin Whitty.

OULART TIDY TOWNS

Oulart Tidy Towns Committee would like to extend a big thank you to all involved in their Old Graveyard project. Thanks to winning third prize in the Wexford County Council’s ‘Access for All Gardens and Parks’ competitio­n the committee have now made the Legion of Mary Hall and the Old Graveyard accessible for wheelchair users, restored four graves, landscaped the grounds and erected a pedestal displaying a brief history of St Mochua’s Church, The Legion of Mary Hall and the Old Graveyard. This completed phase of the project also won third prize at the recent Keep Wexford Beautiful awards in the category for ‘Best Community Project to Improve Accessibil­ity in Gardens and Parks’.

The coffee morning in Mernagh’s last week in aid of SERT and the Hope Centre raised €550. Thanks to all who supported these worthy causes.

This year’s Advent Parish Reconcilia­tion Service will take place in Glenbrien Church on Wednesday, December 14, at 7.30 p.m.

Oylegate-Glenbrien GAA Club will hold a joint AGM for adult and underage sections on Sunday, December 11, at 4 p.m. in Oylegate Community Centre. We look forward to seeing you there.

Hurlers 100th Anniversar­y Celebratio­ns: Thanks to the great crowd who turned up on Friday night to celebrate the 1915/16 Hurlers. The organising committee would like to thank all the sponsors; to those who gave photos; provided refreshmen­ts and confection­ary; to those who worked before/on the night and to the centre for providing the venue. A special thank you must go to Briggette Heffernan for the lovely calligraph­y and the personaliz­ed booklets with the photos.

Lotto: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held on November 9. The numbers drawn were 13, 20, 22 and 26 and bonus number 23.
