All money raised to date have went towards our own Esb connection, upgrades to strings of lights and new LED bulbs a great improvement to date. Without your support the village wouldn’t look as good. County Wexford Community Workshop, Bellefield, Enniscorthy will hold their annual Church Gate Collection in Ballycanew on Saturday, December 31, and Sunday, January 1, (in Ballyoughter on Sunday only). All money collected will stay in the workshop in Bellefield so your support is very greatly appreciated.

Ballygarrett Réalt na Mara GAA Club sends a big thank you to all who participated in our St Stephen’s Day football match in aid of the 1914 club.
There was no jackpot winner in last week’s Ballygarrett Réalt na Mara GAA Club blotto draw. The numbers picked were 15, 19, 25 and 32. The Christmas €30 voucher winner was Tim Whelan. The €20 lucky-dip winners were Mick Butler; Dick Bolger; Seán O’Brien; Paddy Sullivan; and Clare Casey. The five free tickets winner was Yvonne Dempsey. This week’s jackpot rose to €8,700. Blotto tickets can be purchased in local pubs and shops and are also available from club members.
PARISH RAFFLE
Pat Doran cleaned up in the parish Christmas raffle – he won the first prize which was a vacuum cleaner. The other prize winners were Diarmuid Fenlon, Siobhán Ó Leary, Mary Redmond, Paddy Lacey (fifth and 13th prizes), Eimear Roche, Judy Dempsey, Grett Sweeney, Jimmy Murphy, Sonny Dempsey, Anas Heffernan, Mairéad Daly, Myles Doyle, John Doyle and Shane Gahan. Heartiest congratulations to all the prize winners and the committee would like to thank all those who made is such a success. Almost €1,400 was raised thanks to your generosity.
FORÓIGE CRAFT FAIR
The Boolavogue Foróige club’s Christmas craft fair was a great success with Harry Ellix’s ‘Bath Salts’ stand one of the most popular of all the stands there. Tina Doran won the food hamper while Jim Gahan, Chloe Whelan and Alex Whelan won the other raffle prizes. Demonstrating his vast expertise in matters culinary, John Fenlon guessed the weight of the Christmas Cake to the nearest microgramme and claimed this delicious prize. There was serious competition for this as it was one of Kathleen Kehoe’s famous cakes, kindly sponsored by her.
Santa also visited, to the delight of the children there and he managed to sort out some last minute additions and changes to Christmas lists. As well as thanking him, the club would like to thank Fiona Gahan for providing a pony for pony rides and photos. All the children had a ball as the club members provided art activities, music entertainment and a supervised play area.
The club would also like to thank all those who took stands at the fair, sponsored prizes, sold or bought tickets or helped out in any way.
HOSPICE FUNDRAISER
Monageer-Boolavogue GAA Club organised its annual Liam Cooper Memorial football match on St Stephen’s Day at midday. The Junior ‘A’ team took on the Junior ‘B’ team and supporters of the Junior ‘B’s are adamant that they won. The Junior ‘A’ supporters dispute this and the referee has maintained a sensible silence on the issue. All the money raised at the game will be donated to Hospice Homecare and if you would like to add to the sum raised on the day, donations can still be given to any member of the club committee.
TODDLER GROUP
The parent and toddler group which meets in Boolavogue Hall each Wednesday, got off to a great start this year. As well as providing a chance for parents and preschool children to meet and socialise, they also organised visits from the District Nurse and Santa Claus. Any parent with a preschool child is welcome to come along an join in and the group will meet again on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 9.30 a.m.

On Saturday, December 31, the Eucharistic Minister on duty is Caroline Farrington with Monica Gahan are on duty on New Year’s day at the 11 a.m. Mass.
GAA BIGGEST LOSER
Monageer-Boolavogue GAA Club is organising another ‘Biggest Loser’ competition in early 2017. If you put up a few pounds over Christmas, you could lose them and raise a few Euro for the GAA club by joining in. The Monageer-Boolavogue GAA Club calendar for 2017 is now on sale and features all the underage boys’ and girls’ teams as well as the adult hurling and junior camogie team. Only a limited supply is available so please contact Jonathon Dunne, Órla Gahan or any Coiste na nÓg committee member. It only costs €10 and would make a great Christmas present.

The committee of St Cormac’s would like to thank all the club’s supporters, Facebook followers, coaches, parents and guardians, mentors and players for all the hard work and support so far this season, and wish all a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year. The season restarts on the weekend of January 7 and eight 2017 with a round of cup matches.
Last weekend, on Saturday the 17th., all underage games were cancelled despite many pitches seemingly playable. On Sunday the 18th. the adult games went ahead and the men’s ‘A’ team hosted Corach Ramblers but lost out by 0-2. It looked as if our lads would take an early lead when a powerful Brian O’Loughlin shot from 25 yards seemed certain to rattle the net. However, the Corach keeper skillfully tipped it over he bar. Then in a five minute period, Corach scored twice and try as our lads might from then on, they could never manage to find a chink in the well organised Corach defence.
SOCCER FUNDRAISER
St Cormac’s are raffling a package that includes tickets to the Manchester Utd. Vs West Bromwich Albion game in April 2017. Tickets for the draw cost €10 and the prize includes coach travel, ferry crossing and two nights accomodation as well as the tickets. All committee members will be selling the tickets from this weekend and they’d be delighted to sell you at least one.
FR MURPHY CENTRE
The Fr Murphy Centre is closed till the start of the tourist season in 2017. It can still be visited by making an appointment at 087 2935560. The Tuesday Afternoon Club will resume on January 10, 2017, at 2 p.m. and new members are always welcome.
GAA LOTTO RESULTS
The jackpot survived the Christmas draw and has been increased to €8,300 for its next outing which will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 9.30 p.m. in the New Clubhouse in Monageer. The numbers that came up in the last draw were, 2, 15, 21 and 24. Three tickets held by Micheál and Ann Stafford, Órla Gahan and Adam Power as well as Liam Dunbar had three of the numbers and shared the matchthree prize.
In the special Christmas draw, the sellers’ prizes went to Mary Mitten and John Carton while the lucky dips were won by Mary Foley, Michael Rowsome, JMBB and Micheál and Ann Stafford. We wish everyone a Happy, Holy, Peaceful Christmas and health and happiness for 2017.

DEATH
Sincere sympathy is extend to the Roche famely and to the extended famely on the death of Maureen Roche, Garrydaniel who died during the week. Burial took place after mass in Ballyoughter. May she rest in peace.
