Company lodges application for second solar farm

-

JUST DAYS after Wexford County Council granted permission to Res Ltd. for a solar farm on 10 hectares at Banoge, Courtown, the company lodged another application for a solar farm at Banoge.

In the application dated December 23, Renewable Energy Solutions (RES) Ltd. applied to Wexford County Council for permission for a temporary ground mounted solar photovoltaic farm to generate renewable electricity on an eleven hectare site.

The development, if granted, on Robert Steacy’s land would include solar arrays, associated electrical infrastructure, fencing, access improvements, and ecologically beneficial landscape works.

On December 16 last, RES Ltd was granted permission for an application, dated November 2, 2016, for a temporary ground mounted solar farm, for 27 years, on 10 hectares, also Robert Steacy’s land, at Banoge.

A document accompanying the new application states that the solar panels will have a maximum height of 2.3 metres, and will be arranged in east-west rows and tilted southwards at approx. 20 to 30 degrees from the horizontal. A 2.4 metre fence will be installed around the perimeter.

It’s expected that the solar panels will have a lifespan of 25 years, and the site will be grazed by sheep throughout the year, depending on the availability of grass.

Construction could take around three months.
