Ramblers repeat the trick against saints

-

IN repeat of last season’s Neil O’Sullivan Cup final, holders Corach Ramblers edged out St. Cormac’s 3-2 in their first round clash on Sunday.

Gareth McCurtin bagged a double for the winners, while M.J. Doran also got on the scoresheet.

Andy Butler was the star man for Crossabeg as they ran out comfortable 7-0 winners against Gorey Rangers B.

Butler contributed four of their goals, while Joe Wilson added a double and Barry Coughlan also got in on the act.

Jean-Luc Tubritt drove a 25-yard strike into the top corner of the net in the last minute of the game to earn Fethard Rangers a 1-0 win over Ajax Athletic.

Fethard had been reduced to ten men with 25 minutes remaining but they battled bravely to prevail.

North End C overcame Moyne Rangers B 3-1 thanks to a double from Ciarán Carty and a goal from Dean Roche, while Forth Celtic saw off Duncannon 2-0.

Danny Fitzpatrick was the hat-trick hero for North End B as his treble helped them to a 3-1 victory over Forth Celtic B.

A Seán Hopkins double and a goal from James Quinn saw Wexford Celtic beat Fastnet Rovers 3-0, while Tombrack United beat Shelburne 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 stalemate.

New Ross Town also came out on top on penalties, beating Curracloe United 4-3 in a shoot-out after a 1-1 draw, with Seán Duffy getting the Town goal.

Bridge Rovers certainly had their shooting boots on as they chalked up an 11-3 win over Rosslare Strand thanks to four goals from Evan Byrne, three from Daniel Murphy, and one apiece from Oisín Firman, Mark Mythen, Peter Walsh and Evan Devereux.

Danny O’Reilly, Gareth O’Brien and James Murphy replied for Strand.

Seán Ryan (two), Graeme Cullen and Tom Breen got the goals for St. Leonards as they beat Enniscorthy Town 4-1, while Stoney Rovers saw off Killenagh 4-3 with goals from Rob Farrell, Anton Stafford, Shane Kilkenny and Stephen Bennett.

St. Joseph’s were too strong for Ferns United, with Dean Winston (two), Paul Nangle and Brendan McCreary scoring for the Kilmuckridge outfit in a 4-1 win.

Taghmon United edged out Rosslare Port 3-2 thanks to goals from Seamie McLoughlin (two) and Dylan Sparrow, with Liam Hutton and Aspie Cseri replying for Port.

Wexford Bohs had too much firepower for Rathnure, winning 7-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Aaron Lambert, a double from Dermot Flood, and goals from Emmet Ryan and Shane McGrath.

In the preliminary round, Division 2A leaders Cloughbawn beat Adamstown in a seven-goal thriller, with Connal Flood netting a double and Gavin Murphy and Martin Kehoe adding a goal apiece for the winners, while Alex Bradley (two) and Conor Hickey replied for Adamstown.
