WEXFORD HAS TALENT: The glitzy, show-stopping, second semi-final of Wexford Has Talent is due to take place at Clayton Whites Hotel on Saturday, January 21. The successful semi finalists through to the night include ballerina Sorcha Finn, martial arts performer Naoise McManus, singer Eabha Carty, the 7th Fret harmony group, singer Emma O’Leary, singer Will Troy Walsh, singer Caoimhe Troy, singer Jirat O’Neill, operatic singer Emma Hore, singer Hayley Crosbie, singer Chris Flood Hayes, singer Jack Quinn, singer Jenny Murphy and singer Ciara Doherty. All the winners from the two semi-finals will go through to the grand final at Clayton Whites Hotel on Saturday, February 11. The winner will walk away with a cash prize of €2,000. This year, two additional €500 cash prizes will be added to the prize pot. Tickets to the third annual Wexford Has Talent Showcases are now on sale at Clayton Whites in Wexford priced at €10 each for the remaining semi-final and €15 for the Grand Final. All live shows commence at 8 p.m. sharp. Wexford Has Talent is sponsored by the Wexford People.

THE HIGH KINGS: The multi platinum selling The High Kings will bring their Grace and Glory concert to the National Opera House on January 21 as part of their European and American tour. This legendary Irish folk band comprising Brian Dunphy, Finbarr Clancy, Martin Furey and Darren Holden are a quartet of accomplish­ed musicians selling out hundreds of shows across Ireland and the US. In addition they have also appeared on numerous television shows. The High Kings showcase their incredible versatilit­y as multi-instrument­alists playing 13 instrument­s between four of them bringing a rousing acoustic flavour to all their songs. The concert takes place at 8 p.m.

WINTER CEILI: Start the new year by attending the Wexford Comhaltas Winter Ceili at The Talbot Hotel Wexford, Jaunary 15 from 2 p.m. Participan­ts can expect an afternoon of dancing under the watchful eye of John O’ Byrne with music provided by the Wexford Comhaltas house band. Good news is you do not need to be an expert dancer as John will guide you through the steps. This is an all-ages event.

SNOW WHITE AND THE ELEVEN DWARVES: Time is running out to catch this year’s Gorey panto which has audiences crying with laughter all this week in Gorey Little Theatre. It runs to Saturday, January 21, starting at 8 p.m. nightly. No-one is safe from the jokes, and the cast of over 100 performers are attracting rave reviews from the packed houses. A limited number of tickets may still be available, and the theatre box office is open daily from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

WOODWORKIN­G: Relax and spend a day in the mindful experience of learning the traditiona­l skills of ‘Bodgers’ (skilled woodworker­s who use green timber) under the guidance of master craftsman Tommy Kelly from Bevel Furniture/Bevel Woodworkin­g School at the Irish National Heritage Park in January 21. With over 35 years of experience in crafting wood Tommy will guide you through making your very own stool from a log of Irish Ash. The course will give students the ability to create their own stool traditiona­lly used for milking cows. Book on 053 9120733.

WOLFF IN CONCERT. Wexford singer WOLFF will perform a hometown show in the intimate surrounds of Wexford Arts Centre on Saturday, January 21 at 8pm. With a fearless, dark and raw sound WOLFF blends the power and fire of traditiona­l blues with trashy garage rock riffs and in-your-face vocals. The past year has seen WOLFF go from strength to strength with standout performanc­es at Other Voices, Electric Picnic and a triumphant headline show at Wexford Spiegelten­t. This standing gig all ages show at the Arts Centre is suitable for all ages and is his first show of 2017, making it one not to miss.

ROBIN HOOD PANTO: The merry crew of the New Ross Pantomime Society take to the stage of St Michael’s Theatre on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights this week at 8 p.m. and for a matinee show at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Ths action packed, top quality production of the classic rob from the rich and give to the poor story is sure to delight audience members of all ages. The show, by one of the region’s top pantomime groups, features an excellent cast who bring the colourful drama about Robin Hood and Maid Marian to life with nuance and humour.
