16 houses already sold in new development

-

SIXTEEN houses in the new Oakhill estate at Ramstown, Gorey, have already been snapped up.

Work began on site just last September, and the newly completed show-house opened to the public last Saturday. When complete, the estate will have 56 large three and four-bed architecturally designed A energy rated homes.

The project is being undertaken by the Redmond brothers, who previously built Meadowgate and Hazelwood. A total of 53 new houses will be constructed, while the preserved old house on site will be converted into three homes.

Agent James Kinsella of Sherry FitzGerald O’Leary Kinsella said the houses include an air to water heating system, eliminating the need for oil or gas. They are triple glazed, and have a spacious layout. ‘ They really are a contemporary, modern design,’ ‘ he commented. ‘ They are quite a bit larger than anything built in Gorey in recent years.’

Phase one of the development includes 16 houses, while phase two will include 22 homes. Both phases are now on the market. Six houses are nearing completion, and work on phase two begins in the next fortnight.

James said that sixteen houses sold in the pre-launch period, and after the launch day. These include houses in both phase one and two. A three-bed semi-detached, measuring 1,270 sq.ft. is for sale at €240,000, while a four-bed semi-detached is going for €255,000. The two types of four-bed detached are on sale for €280,000 and €300,000.

‘We’d hope to have all the houses sold before the end of the year, and that they would be close to finishing on site,’ he said. The show-house is open this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.

Meanwhile, three houses in An tOilean, Craanford, have been sold since they went on the market. Work on the development in the heart of the village stopped in 2007, with just one house occupied. Work on the remaining eight sites ranged from unfinished to not started. James Kinsella said that all will be A Rated. Prices start at €220,000.

‘ They will really add to the village,’ he said. ‘ They will be good for the community.’ The show-house is open Saturday, 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
