Rock of Hell endurance race to feature new water slide

-

THERE’S a big water slide leading down to a river in The Rock of Hell course this year. Participants will also squeeze through tyres and crawl through bogs as they take on the challenge of the gruelling obstacle course.

Over 500 people took part in the first event last year, and the organisers say over 100 people have already signed up for this year’s Rock of Hell which takes place on Saturday, February, 25, at the Bunker Bar, The Rock.

The final leg has been slightly altered and it’s now an 8km course for all participants, and it’s not as hilly towards the end.

The participants will head off in groups every fifteen minutes between 10 a.m. to 12 midday.

‘It was brilliant last year,’ said a spokesperson for Tara Rocks GAA. ‘Everybody was raving about it. It was a super day, great fun. We’re confident it will be bigger and better this year.’

The club is raising money on behalf of the community field project. The community field committee is hoping it will receive a grant to start work on building dressing rooms this year. The pitch which was completed two years ago, is well used.

Entrants can register and book their start time on www.tararockgaa.ie . Each group is limited to 80. Entry is €25 per person in a team of four or more. Individual entry is €30. A souvenir t-shirt and wrist band will be given to all participants.

Power hosing or hot showers are available afterwards, with hot soup, fruit, and refreshments served.
