Wedding day photo booth at centre of small claims action

-

A BRIDE and groom were back in County Wexford to re-live one element of their wedding reception in Gorey.

Tyrone Cummins of 3 Kilmahuddrick Close, Clondalkin came to a sitting of the Small Claims Court with his wife Alison.

He made his case seeking redress against Guest Stars of Cosher, Kilmuckridge who provided a novelty photo booth at the function in the Ashdown Park.

He told Judge John Cheatle how 147 people attended the event on November 27, 2015 which was three years in the planning.

It was a movies themed Christmas wedding with guests encouraged to use props while being photographed in the passport-style booth, which was provided at a cost of €420.

They were given a copy of their pictures, while a second copy was given to Mister and Missus Cummins in an album.

The groom told the court he was really let down by the end result, feeling that the album was not up to standard, as it appeared to be falling apart and some of the captions written in by the guests did not match the images.

He was also concerned that the booth was set up near to the toilets and smoking area rather than in the reception room. ‘The memory is tarnished for life,’ he said. Appearing for the respondent company, Helga Fingleton recalled that two blank albums had been taken from the booth and the replacement arrived late from Kilmuckridge.

She explained that the photo unit was set up where directed by the hotel, with which the firm had been working for six years.

Judge Cheatle felt that the Guest Stars had carried out the work which they were contracted to do.

However, he acknowledged that the firm had offered a €100 refund and undertaken to attempt to improve the album once it was handed back to them by their disgruntled customers.

The court ruled that the case could be adjourned on this basis.
