RETIRED PRIESTS FUND – Thanks to those who returned contributions to this fund which supports the retired priests of Ferns diocese. Currently there are about 24 retired clergy in the diocese who need our support. Outstanding contributions are always welcome.
PARISH SECRETARY – We hope to set up a Parish Office in the near future to provide secretarial support for the parish of Craanford-Monaseed. It is hoped that this facility will also support the work of community groups in the area. Our hope is to employ a parish secretary under the auspices of the local CE scheme. This person must be at least 25 years of age and in receipt of a payment from Social Welfare This is a personal development opportunity and training will be provided, however some office experience would be helpful. COMEDY AND COOKING
Monaseed National School parents’ association presents a wonderful evening with a great fusion of Comedy and Cooking in the Amber Springs Hotel, on Wednesday, February 8. On the night three local chefs will participate in a cook off, assisted by some local celebrities.
Chefs on the evening include Eric Poole, Veronica Redmond and Ben Anderson. On the night local producers and craft people will showcase their produce at the event. Anybody interested in taking a table is asked to contact Claire Carroll at 087 2338152.
Doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are €10 and can be purchased at the door on the night, or purchase them beforehand from the Amber Springs Hotel, Monaseed National School or any members of the parents’ association.

A number of parishioners have been laid up in hospital/home, we wish them all a speedy recovery.
SCHOOL BUS TO GOREY
As there is a very limited bus service for school runs from Craanford to Gorey directly, a need for a direct bus has arisen. A number of parents are already interested for the school year 2017/2018. GAA CLUB NEWS
The club dinner dance will be held on Saturday, February 4, in the Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey, an opportunity to celebrate a good year and enjoy a social evening for all the community. Many thanks to everyone who participated in the annual GAA mass held last weekend, to say it was more than colourful would be an understatement as the blue and white stood tall and proud among the huge gathering present and well done to all on the great underage presentation night held after the mass.
Leinster GAA are holding an under-15 league competition in Feb and March this year, Craanford matches are scheduled for the following dates February 18, March 4 and 18. The other teams in our group are Michael Dwyer’s from Wicklow, Confey from Kildare and Trim, Co. Meath.
Senior Scór will take place in Oulart Hall on Friday, March 3, at 8 p.m. Registration at 7.30 p.m. Categories include figure dancing, set dancing, solo singing, instrumental music, ballad group, léiriú and recitation. table quiz (teams of 4) will take place in St Martin’s GAA. Complex on Thursday, March 9, at 8 p.m. We encourage all clubs to take part in these events. Please inform your club members who may have an interest in some of the categories. This competition is for those over 17 years old (i.e. those who have reached their 17th birthday prior to January 1). We look forward to increased participation in 2017.

MODEL EXHIBITION
The annual model exhibition in Coláiste Bhríde held annually is on Sunday, February 5. A great family day runs from 11 a.m. with plenty to see. Exhibitors will display their collections of planes, trains, automobiles, tractors, model steam engines, farm diorama’s, circus, lego and some magnificent remote control models and lots more beside.
This year the proceeds of the day will be divided between the three schools in Carnew name- ly All Saints National School, Coláiste Bhríde and Scoil Aodán Naofa.

GAA CLUB NOTES
There was no jackpot winner in the club lotto on January 16. There were four match-three winners who won €50 each. The jackpot is now at €5,800. The numbers were 2, 3, 19 and 23.

The Castletown indoor hurling tournaments for under-10/12/14 starts now and continues for a month. These are always great entertainment and a good start to the season for the youngsters. Circuit training with Cathal continues on Monday and Wednesday 7 p.m. in the Sports Complex, Kilanerin. Cost is €5 per night and is suitable for all levels of fitness.

Yogalates fitness for beginners continues on Tuesdays in Kilanerin Hall at 7 p.m. cost €6 per session. These classes are suitable for all ages and especially improve fitness levels and flexability to get off to a good start for 2017. Bernadette will give individual advice on the best nutrition and fitness plan.
The Old Kilnenor Historical Society will hold a talk by Matthew Breslin on Thursday, February 9, at 8 p.m. in Ballyfad Hall. Matthew will give a talk on the Killahurler/ Croghan area and its people. Admission is €3 for non-members.

The weekly envelope collection is the main source of income for the parish and as an added advantage the parish can calim a tax rebate on contributions of more than €250 per year provided we have the contributor/taxpayer’s completed CHY3 Certificate. COLLECTION THANKS
The County Wexford Community Workshop, Bellefield wishes to thank everyone who gave so generously to their recent Church Gate Collection in Kilanerin and Ballyfad. Amount collected and banked in Kilanerin was €85.19, amount collected and banked in Ballyfad was €55.08. Thanks to the collectors for all their time and help. All money collected will stay in the workshop in Bellefield, your support is very greatly appreciated.
