County’s ploughing champions honoured
THERE was a great turnout of 130 people at the County Ploughing Association Dinner Dance held in the Oak Tree Foulksmills.
The night included a beautiful meal provided by Larry Purcell and Mary Mcgee of the Oak Tree and music by Eugene French.
Clongeen branch of the National Ploughing Association presented all the 2017 county ploughing champions with their cups and trophies after a successful County Ploughing Match held in Clongeen this year, and wished them all well for their All Ireland competitions in September.
Guests included Fr Colm Murphy (who recently celebrated 40 years in the priesthood), Fr Jim Curtis and Canon Arthur Minnion and his wife (all patrons of Clongeen Branch of NPA).
Also present were Willie Hayden (chairman of County Wexford county ploughing association), Jimmy Curtis (vice president of County Wexford county ploughing association) and John Whelan (NPA representative).
Eamonn O’Rourke, Chairman of Clongeen Branch of NPA, thanked all who attended and congratulated everyone who would be representing County Wexford at the National Ploughing Championships in September. He also thanked all the loyal sponsors of both Clongeen and the county, with special mention to the main county sponsor this year, Firestone Tyres.
