Bunclody beat Forth in thrilling cup tie
Bunclody AFC 5, Forth Celtic 3 (AET): The home side trailed 3-1 in this cup tie with 15 minutes to go but battled back to bring the game to extra-time, where two goals saw them book their place in the last four.
These sides would have been considered among the cup favourites and they definitely served up a game worthy of a final.
Emma Clarke, Lauren McLoughlin and an own goal made up the Celtic tally while two goals each from Ciara Roban and Maeve Sinnott and one from Geri Rose O’Connor saw last season’s beaten finalists through to the semi-finals.
Courtown Hibs 2, Seaview United 3: Seaview went 2-0 up in this match but had to withstand a spirited fightback from Courtown before eventually booking their place in the semi-finals.
Gina Burke and Hannah Redmond were on target for Hibs while two goals from Róisín Lyons and one from Aoife Connolly saw the visitors through.
New Ross Town 1, Wexford Celtic 0: This game was a typical cup tie with both sides being fully committed and very little divided the teams for long periods of the match.
Eventually, Lydia McGrath scored the goal that put Town through to the semi-final, rounding off a good day for the club as their Under-12 team also made it through to the last four of their cup.
Cloughbawn AFC 10, Shelburne FC 1: The home side have now scored 30 goals in their three cup games and continued their push to retain the Ger Dunne Cup with a comfortable 10-1 win over near neighbours Shelburne.
Anais Curran and Niamh McHugh scored a hat-trick each with Bríd Madigan adding two, while Laura Butler and Katie Sweetman scored a goal each. Katie Murphy was on target for Shelburne.
Corach Ramblers 3, Gorey Rangers 1: Ramblers picked up a valuable three points in their battle against relegation as they overcame fellow strugglers Gorey Rangers in very windy conditions. Niamh Miller, Shannon Anglim and Alison Gibbons were all on target for Corach to put them 3-0 ahead, and although Amy Butler pulled one back for the visitors, it was not enough.
Moyne Rangers 0, St. Joseph’s 0: In a very evenly-contested encounter, Moyne Rangers picked up their second point of the season while at the same time killing off St. Joseph’s promotion hopes.
The visitors could have taken all three points but missed a penalty, but at the end both sides were fully deserving of a point each.
Carnew FC 6, Arklow Town 1: Carnew completed their season in fine style with a 6-1 victory in this all-Wicklow clash.
Erica Torres was on target for Arklow Town but two goals each from Lucy Kemple and Maisie Courtney-Keane and one apiece from Aine O’Gorman and Kaley Kavanagh rounded off the home side’s season with a win.
