AMANDA AT THE AMBER SPRINGS
SHE HAS BEEN hailed as one of the top ten Irish artists aged under 30 to watch, and now the Gorey artist Amanda Doran will present her first solo show, ‘ The Devine Feminine, an ongoing body of work’, in The Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey, this Wednesday, March 8.
The exhibit, which features a selection of pieces from Doran’s artistic career to date, opens at 7 p.m. with live music and performances from 8 p.m. till late. It runs until Sunday, March 19.
‘My work is my investigation and interpretation of identity, subculture, style, fashion, minorities, perceptions of beauty etc., but in a very childlike innocent way, or can be tongue in cheek,’ explained Amanda.
The exhibition is generously supported by The Amber Springs Hotel and Spa in association with International Women’s Day and the Gorey Town and District Park arts initiative.
There will be a full programme of free events including workshops, talks, performances, a free yoga class and a day of live radio which will be open to all throughout the duration of the exhibition.
The daily events are generously supported by The Amber Springs Hotel and Spa.
Amanda was named in the top ten artists aged under 30 by Christine Leech for RTÉ Culture. She is based in Gorey and works mainly in oils and has moved into embroidery too.
