Just three clubs in Scór
SENIOR SCOR took place in Oulart Hall on Friday. The audience present were treated to some lovely entertainment.
Unfortunately, only three clubs participated from a possible 49.
The first competition was the solo singing and here Oulart-The Ballagh’s Jimmy Adams, St. James’ Joe Mc Donald and Bannow-Ballymitty’s Leona Reville took to the stage, with Leona emerging victorious.
The next competition, recitation, saw Phil Redmond from the local Oulart-The Ballagh club perform very well to qualify for the Leinster semi-final.
Bannow-Ballymitty’s John Mernagh, Paul O’Sullivan, Jessica Reville, Melanie Carthy and Leona Reville qualified in the ballad group category.
The final competition saw musicians from St. James’ - Claire Doyle, Mary Rowe, Joe McDonald and Simon Kennedy - and Bannow-Ballymitty’s Jessica, Tom and Leona Reville, Dearbhla Daly and Paul O’Sullivan, perform some lively traditional music. Bannow-Ballymitty were crowned county champions in this category.
Bean a’ Tí, Breda Jacob, ensured the smooth running of the competition.
Chairperson Áine Kennedy commended all the competitors and wished those who qualified all the best in the Leinster semi-final.
She thanked adjudicator Niall Quillinan, Oulart Hall committee and the organising committee.
The Scór table quiz (teams of four) takes place in St. Martin’s G.A.A. Complex on Thursday, March 9, at 8 p.m.
All clubs are asked to participate.
