TWO networking events were hosted by Loftus Hall, Ireland’s most haunted house, located on the Hook Peninsula, recently, highlighting the importance of keeping visitors to the county in the county for as long as possible.
An Industry Day session took place in the morning, with the emphasis firmly on building relationships,
getting a better understanding of all the varied and high quality offerings in the area and the importance of working together to ensure that Failte Ireland’s latest tourism initiative, Ireland’s Ancient East, is fully embraced and projected by all.
Sean Connick, CEO of the JFK Trust and Dunbrody Famine Ship, spoke passionately about Ireland’s Ancient East, highlighting some areas that some may not have previously considered as being a factor in making the south east an appealing destination, as opposed to a transit region, for international tourists. He said ‘attractive presentation of towns and villages’ and even ‘something simple like displaying flags from other countries, as is often done on the bridge in New Ross, are all very small things that
can make an international tourist feel valued and coveted’.
The session was completed with comments from Anne Power, Loftus Hall’s Customer Relationship Development Manager, and a taster of the Loftus Hall House tour for all participants.
That evening 100 Wexford Chamber of Commerce members attended a networking event with a difference, with low lighting and candelabras setting the scene for a very eerie night of networking. President of the Wexford Chamber of Commerce Karl Fitzpatrick spoke about the significance of Loftus Hall within the Wexford business community. He stressed how important businesses working together is to Loftus
Hall. Following a prize draw and taster tour for all participants, six lucky chamber members were selected to re-enter the house with Loftus Hall Paranormal Investigator Mary Mernagh to take a brief plunge into Loftus Hall’s paranormal lockdown experience.
