FARM ACCIDENT

The local community of Coolgreany and surroundin­g areas were thrown into total shock when the word started to get around of the fatal accident at the farm of Donal and Winnie Kennedy in Moneyribbo­n. It is believed that a quad bike slipped and turned over and their 25-year-old son John Kennedy lost his life.

John was a very prominent member of the Liam Mellows-Castletown GAA Club and participat­ed at all levels in football and hurling and was playing fairly recently.

His burial took place in Ballyfad Cemetery last Saturday, March 18, after Mass which was celebrated in St David’s Church when probably the largest gathering ever seen at both Johnstown and Ballyfad assembled in
