SOCCER NEWS
The club’s under-12s were away to Rosslare Rangers on Saturday and were well beaten by a very strong side. The score line of 1-5 flattered Rosslare somewhat and it was an excellent game from start to finish. Cian Dobbs rattled the net for our goal. The score at half-time was 1-2 but our lads ran out of steam in the second half as they were understrength and Rosslare were able to bring in fresh players from their subs’ bench.
The under-14s were also playing away and also lost. They travelled to Forth Celtic and as they were understrength, used some of the under-12 players to boost their side. Cormac Walsh scored a superb goal for our lads but in the end Celtic collected all the points on a 1-2 scoreline. However, the under-16s, playing at home in their last league game of the season, beat Enniscorthy Town, to finish third in the league. Nathan Huzzar had a hat-trick before half-time and Adam Meehan’s headed goal was one of the finest goals ever seen in Boolavogue. This team is still in the cup and will be taking on Fort Celtic early in April in a quarter-final.
On Sunday, the Ladies’ team were at home to Fastnet Rovers and lost out by 0-2. Nichola Doyle was the player-of-the-match. The men’s ‘A’ team were also at home and collected maximum points from Taghmon on a 4-1 win. Mick Sweeney, James Sweeney, Ian Devlin and Jamie Doyle all scored while Matthew Dunne was outstanding throughout.
