The community was saddened to hear the death of John-John Hogan, Old Forest, Bunclody, who passed away on March 14. Sadly missed by his loving wife Antoinette, daughter May, mother Bridget, brothers and sisters, Charlie, Mary, Kathleen, Peadar, Ger, Martina, Shelly and Jimmy, parents-in-law, Paul and Una Murphy, extended family, neighbours, work colleagues and friends.

Funeral Mass took place on March 17, in the Most Holy Trinity Church, Bunclody, followed by burial afterwards in Calvary Cemetery, Bunclody. May he rest in peace.

FESTIVAL OF CRAFTS

Festival of crafts and Demonstrat­ions 2017, in Conjunctio­n with Carlow County Council, will hold demonstrat­ions of weaving, spinning, arts and crafts on Saturday, May 6, at the Weavers’ Cottages, Clonegal. Free Admission, donations accepted.

TAES SCHOOL OF DANCING

DAFFODIL DAY 2017

The local organisers of Daffodil Day 2017 would like thank you so much for supporting this annual event, local people came together to stop cancer by selling daffodils on the streets, as well as hosting events in their communitie­s and workplace. Thank you once again for your hard work and fantastic support. Total funds raised in Cloughbawn was €630.

Wexford Academy dancers are holding a table quiz in Byrne’s Lounge, Bree on Thursday, April 13, at 9 p.m. in aid of their Costume Fund. All support appreciate­d.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The Community Games County Talent Competitio­n for under-12s and under-16s takes place in Bree Hall on Saturday, May 13, Competitor­s from Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn parishes are invited to take part. Events are solo and group dancing, singing, music and drama. Entries must be with the area sec by April 28 Please check with the area sec Clare at 087 4151350 or the Community Games website under Resources/Rule Book of each event. The local Athletic Finals will take place on Thursday, May 11.

The parents’ council of Ballindagg­in NS would like to thank all who supported the social dancing night in the Millrace Hotel last week. A great night was had by all and over €1,000 was raised for the building fund. Thanks again to everyone.

The numbers drawn last week were 5, 18, 24 and 30. Congratula­tions to jackpot winner Adrian Dunne c/o Lisa Frayne, who scooped the jackpot of €3,800 last week. No match three. Lucky-dip winners were Terry Barnes, Ann Walsh and Ann Murphy. The draw tonight (Tuesday. Apl. Fourth) is in Jordan’s, Ballindagg­in. The jackpot is €1,500.

SOCIAL AND TEA

The monthly social and tea will be held in Rathanna Community Hall on Sunday night next April 9 with music by ‘Midnight Sound’. Admission €8.

TABLE QUIZ

The Duffry Rovers annual table quiz will be held in Ballindagg­in Community Hall on Good Friday night, April 14, at 9.30 p.m. 100 general knowledge questions. Teams of four adults €40, students teams €20, includes tea and biscuits.

The proceeds of the night will go towards the underage 14 hurlers who are taking part in the Féile in June. The Féile will be held in counties Wexford, Carlow and Kilkenny. Duffry Rovers will club will host a team from Co. Antrim during the games.

SYMPATHY

Castledock­rell United AFC are holding a Benefit Night in aid of the players injury fund in Ballycarne­y Inn on Saturday, April 15, at 9 p.m. Raffle and door prizes on the night. Music by Stuart Anderson. Tickets at €5 each are available from all players and committee members.
