Enniscorthy won three out of our four home games and two out of five away games. It all came down to a birdie putt on the 17th in the very last match where Declan Byrne made a fantastic birdie in Bunclody to settle it.

Earlier in the day Eddie Doyle, Seán Hegarty and Jim Mackey had won at home and Denis Dunne had won away. The team is managed again this year by Vice-Captain Tim Morrissey and John Byrne. Eunan Doyle, Bill Whelan, Philip Browne and Joe Murphy completed the line-up.

Our Barton Cup team took on Courtown in the first round with three games at home and two away. Some very good golf coupled with home advantage meant that the pairings of Paul Lynch and Liam Sheridan, and Nicky Murphy and Adam Jordan ,won their games midway through the back nine.

The final home pairing of Martin Sludds and Shane Fortune had reached the 17th when word came through that brothers Frankie and James Morrissey had won their match in Courtown to secure the win.

Paul Conroy and ‘Butch’ O’Connor were the second away pairing. Managers of this team are Paul Connolly, Jason Rackard and Murt Mangan.
