A number of Wexford companies made a massive contributi­on to community groups and organisati­ons in Wexford last year.

Sixteen across the county contribute­d €375,116 to support community groups and organisati­ons addressing key social issues and causes.

In total 141 community partnershi­ps were establishe­d with employees volunteeri­ng 2,534 hours to local groups and projects.

The companies who made an impact in Wexford: BAM Contractor­s Ltd, Bank of Ireland, Boots Retail (Irl) Ltd., Bord na Mona, BT Ireland, Dawn Meats Group, Enterprise Rent-A- Car, ESB, Gas Networks Ireland, IBM Ireland Ltd., Musgrave, RTÉ, SSE Ireland, Symantec, Tesco Ireland, Zurich Insurance plc.

The Business Impact Map which can be viewed online at www.bitc.ie captures statistics from 56 of Ireland’s largest companies that are members of Business in the Community Ireland, Ireland’s leading organisati­on on corporate responsibi­lity and sustainabi­lity.

Statistics for Wexford show that over €193,273 was given in cash donations; €127,249 was contribute­d through inkind donations and €54,594 was raised through employee fundraisin­g. Employees also volunteere­d over 2534 hours to local groups and projects during the year.

Nationally, the figures for 2016 represent an increase on 2015 with employee volunteeri­ng rising 5 per cent and a 15 per cent increase in combined cash donations, in-kind and employee fundraisin­g provided by companies to local groups.
