TIDY TOWNS

Ballygarrett Tidy Towns are holding an upcycled furniture exhibition in Gorey Library until Saturday, April 15. All pieces in the exhibition will be for sale to raise much needed funds for the Tidy Towns. Call into the library during open hours to view the pieces.

To tie in with the exhibition Wendy Gill will give a talk on Furniture restoration and upcycling on Tuesday, April 11, in Gorey Library at 7.30 p.m. This is a free event so come along and join us.

This project came about as a follow up from the four-week Furniture Restoration and upcycling course the Tidy Towns completed last November. Peter Doyle a local Builder donated the furniture to the Tidy Towns to upcycle, to raise funds. Seven participants of the up cycle course, Dolores Lawlor, Tracy Murphy, Anne Crowe, Carol Smith, Paige Burgard, Brigid Roche, Bernie Byrne volunteered their time to give the furniture a facelift, saving the furniture from going to landfill. There are some beautiful pieces of furniture, tables, chairs, lockers, lamps, dressing table, chest of drawers. Check out the Facebook page for details.
