Harvest festival DVD dedicated to late Marion
DUNCORMICK Harvest Festival have launched their fundraising DVD ‘Remembered’, a soundtrack of the ‘Let There be Light’ concert of traditional Irish music, accompanied by over 700 photographs, which is in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare.
Committee member Clara Murphy said: ‘ The DVD is a special dedication to Marion Gowan (neé Rochford) who sadly passed away from cancer and Hospice Homecare provided her with the best help when she needed it. The Rochford family have always been tremendous during the Harvest Festival as well, often lending us their old machinery and steam engines. That is where the idea came from and we wanted to do something nice for the family.’
The photos were collected over the summer period and during the festival in 2016. They include the telling of the story of the harvest where volunteers dressed up in costumes and worked with old machinery doing activities such as thrashing.
The collection of images was then put to music, by media student Molly O’Driscoll, from a recording of the concert that had been held the day before the festival begun.
Musicians included John Browne, Darina Gleeson, Jess Martin, John Murphy, Alan O’Dwyer, Dermot Wall and Ned Wall who, either together or solo, played 14 songs.
The DVD is €10 and available from Clearistown church after Mass on Saturday and Sunday; Rathangan church after Mass on Saturday and Sunday; John Sinnotts Pub Duncormick; K&K Day Today; Baldwinstown Day Today; Bramble Crafts Baldwinstown; Geelan’s Shop and Filling Station; Wallace’s Department Wellington Bridge; The Red Carrig on Bannow; Mace Kilmore; Goff’s Centra Bridgetown; and the Rathangan Bar.
