350YEARSOFICASERVICE!
LONG service certificates were presented by Deirdre Connery, Federation President, at Wexford ICA’s AGM in Oylegate Community Centre to seven guilds who have between them accumulated 350 years of service.
Certificates were presented to Maudlins and Inch guilds for 65 years each, Camross and Ballyoughter who both have 55 years, Marshalstown for 45 years, Kilmyshall, which has been established for 35 years, and the Kilrane/Rosslare Harbour guild which has been running for 30 years.
The total number of members between the seven guilds is 83. One guild consists only of five members but is known for being one of the strongest groups in the Wexford Federation.
Outgoing PRO Joe Whitmore praised the guilds for being such great competitors and attending most events and wished them well with their celebrations, some of which have taken place already, with trips away and parties.
After the presentations the Wexford Federation ICA’s annual general meeting was held. Officers’ reports were discussed and the election of the committee took place, with most officers returned for the coming year.
The post not filled was that of PRO Joe Whitmore who is standing down following a four-year term.
Joe received The Kay O’Leary Perpetual Person of the Year trophy from Deirdre Connery for her outstanding work for Wexford ICA and its promotion through print and social media. She received a standing ovation on the presentation of the trophy.
The bi-monthly meeting followed with all officers giving up-to-date reports on Wexford Refuge Centre, Federation tours, and plans for a cruise next year.
The meeting concluded with refreshments.
