Gap Arts Festival seeking cinema sponsor

-

THE Gap Arts Festival is looking for a generous sponsor for its planned late-night outdoor cinema in Ballythomas.

Showing a movie on the big screen under the stars is just one of a number of ideas that festival director Garrett Keogh is considering for the festival which takes place from August 11 to 13.

This will cost money and the festival is looking for a sponsor, a company or an individual, for the outdoor cinema. ‘Imagine a 20ft high inflatable screen, with state of the art sound and projection,’ Keogh said. ‘Look up and your name is on it.’

Some 600 people, young and old, gathered in the school field last year for the Inferno Pirate Fire Show. The sponsor will also be highlighted in all publicity.

‘We’re small,’ said Garrett. ‘It’s local, word of mouth, signs on the side of the road, but we have developed an audience that increases year on year. We have a growing online presence, and an international reach.’

The Gap Arts Festival was recently awarded the EFFE Label, a prestigious branding from the European Festival Association that represents festivals from Spain to Croatia, from Budapest to Brussels.

‘ The Edinburgh International Festival, and the BBC Proms are among the members of EFA,’ explained Garrett, ‘and this award allows us all the benefits of access to their networks.’
