Reward for missing Baywatch stars
THERE’S a pair of complimentary cinema tickets and free popcorn for anyone who returns the missing stars of Baywatch to Movies@Gorey.
The large cardboard cutout, or ‘standee’ as they call it in the cinema industry, of the swimsuit-clad Kelly Rohrbach who plays CJ Parker in the film about Los Angeles Life Guards, went missing from the cinema in recent weeks, and turned up relaxing against a roadside decorative cart in seaside-free Craanford, much to the amusement of motorists.
The standee of her co-star Zac Efron who plays Matt Brody also disappeared from the cinema in a separate incident, despite the vigilance of staff, and has yet to be located. They left behind the standees of the other co-stars Alexandra Daddario, who plays Summer Quinn, and Dwayne ‘ The Rock’ Johnson, who plays Mitch Buchannon, to promote the movie by themselves.
Cinema manager Eugene Tobin said it was the first time they have had standees go missing from the multiplex. He commented Baywatch was popular with audiences, and drew good crowds, despite being panned by the critics. He appealed for the return of Kelly and Zac, and offered a pair of complimentary tickets and a popcorn to anyone who brings them back.
‘ They’re badly missed,’ he said. ‘One of the staff spent half an evening putting them together for display.’
A busy summer lies ahead at the cinema, with ‘ Transformers: The Last Night’ having already landed; Despicable Me 3 and Baby Driver opening this weekend; and the new Spider Man movie opening on July 5.
