Bringing 15 million books to Wexford library users

-

LIBRARY members in County Wexford can now have access to over 15 million items in all 333 public library branches across the country in a newly launched service.

Libraries Ireland was launched recently by Damien English, Minister for Housing and Urban Development. The service allows members of the library to request titles and have them quickly delivered to their local branches.

The initiative also enables the introduction of a number of new services such as a single membership card across all public libraries in the country.

Wexford County Librarian Eileen Morrissey said: ‘Wexford was one of the first to pilot this new library service and the feedback from our customers about the range of titles available and the efficiency of the service has been phenomenal.

‘ This new service is free and is available to all residents young and old in the county. Your local library might not have that book you’re looking for today, but chances are it’s in a public library somewhere, so we’ll find it and get it for you.’

The expanded service allows readers to reserve up to 12 items at a time from the 15 million titles available. Members can do this when they visit a library or they can request online. Requested titles will be delivered quickly to the reader’s local branch - often within the week.
