Spanish journalists enjoy a tour of top Wexford attractions
A group of Spanish journalists enjoyed the sights of Wexford last week as they experienced everything that the Ancient East has to offer.
The group were in Ireland to show what the Ancient East can offer Spanish visitors when they arrive at the gateway to the South of Ireland.
The journalists flew into Cork Airport for the trip which was hosted by Fáilte Ireland, in conjunction with Tourism Ireland.
It is hoped that these summer services from Madrid to Cork will open up lots of opportunities for Spanish tourists to see for themselves what Ireland’s Ancient East, including Wexford, has to offer. A bespoke itinerary was put together by Fáilte Ireland for the travelling media on things to see and do in Ireland’s Ancient East.
Last Thursday they were in Wexford where they spent time in Duncannon, visited the Hook Head Lighthouse and Tintern Abbey before taking in Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny and Tipperary.
Ciara Sugrue, Head of International Publicity with Fáilte Ireland welcomed the group to Ireland and said: ‘Cork Airport is a gateway to the south of Ireland and we showcased the stunning and rich heritage of Ireland’s Ancient East to these influential Spanish media. Regional Airports are key to opening up improved access throughout the country whilst sustaining and distributing economic gain to the regions.
‘ This trip provided fantastic exposure for counties Wexford, Cork, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny and Tipperary, and we are hoping to capitalise on the summer Iberia Express service.’
