Death of Margaret, aged 49
THE tragic death of a Bunclody woman was recalled at Wexford Coroner’s Court last week.
During the inquest into the death of Rebecca Margaret Brown (49) of 24 Termonbarry, Bunclody, Garda Seamus Killeen said that on Monday, July 11, 2016, he was called to Ms Brown’s home where he met Stephanie Macken, the fiancee of Ms Brown’s brother Richard.
She gave Garda Killeen a key to the house and he found Ms Brown on the kitchen floor with no pulse. The last contact anyone had with Ms Brown was two days previously on July 9.
Inspector Sean Clince read the deposition of Ms Mackenwho said she had been unable to contact Ms Brown.
Pathologist Dr Fergus McSweeney said Ms Brown’s blood toxicology results showed a number of medications in the blood. He said all the medications were prescribed but that some of them were above the recommended levels. Death was due to a combinations of sedatives and a small amount of alcohol.
County Coroner Dr Sean Nixon said documentation in the house indicated it was Ms Brown’s intention to end her life and recommended the jury bring in a verdict of suicide which they duly did.
Dr Nixon sympathised with the Brown family and Ms Brown’s friends on their very sad and tragic loss. He said that Ms Brown had ‘suffered a very long period of ill health and had had a very difficult life as a result. Inspector Clince and jury foreman Seamus Whelan also extended sympathy to the family on behalf of the gardai and jury respectively.
