POSITIVE AGEING

Johnstown-Coolgreany senior citizens will hold a coffee morning On Friday, July 7, in the May Byrne Community House, Coolgreany from 10 a.m. to midday. This fundraiser is to offset the cost of the senior citizens’ annual Christmas party. We will have a fine selection of home baking for sale on the day. We would be grateful for your support.

MAY BYRNE HOUSE

The recently newly refurbishe­d May Byrne Community House is now available for all new groups who wish to avail of same.

The refurbishi­ng means a lot more space for meetings both downstairs, and also upstairs which has projector facilities and a white board for presentati­ons, there is also beautiful new Kitchen facilities with lots of apace.

ALZHEIMER SOCIETY

The coffee morning held recently in the May Byrne Community House was a great success. A total of €1,460 was raised for the Alzheimer Services at the Lily of the Valley Daycare centre. Grateful thanks to everyone for your continued support and generosity. A special word of thanks to all who donated cakes, plants, prizes and to everyone who helped out on the day.

TIDY TOWNS

The Tidy Towns Committee would like to thank the ladies soccer team and management for their kind donation of the Leaf Blower, the Fas workers are delighted because it makes their work a lot easier in helping to keep the village cleaner.

The group is putting in a huge effort to get the village into the best possible for the upcoming adjudicati­on in the Tidy Towns competitio­n.

BIRTHDAYS

Birthday greetings to Seán Kavanagh, Newtown, who will celebrate his ninth birthday on next Thursday, June 29; also birthday greetings to Alex Brogan, Knockgrean­y, who will celebrate his sixth birthday on next Friday, June 30.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to the Hudson Families Newtown, Coolgreany on the recent death of Matthew Hudson Castlepark, Arklow, whose burial took place in St Gabriel’s cemetery on last Saturday.

FAMILY DAY

Scoil Iosagain Coolgreany, and Croghan Athletic Club, jointly held a very successful Family Fun Day in the local Community Field on last Sunday where a very large crowd attended and enjoyed a great day of sporting and novelty events which were put together by the excellent joint committees and enjoyed in glorious sunshine.
