ROSSLARE LADIES

What a tight finish! It was a lovely sunny day in Rosslare with four ladies scoring 38 points in the 18 holes singles stableford sponsored by Boggan’s Londis.

Joan Bowe (back nine), Ruth Deeny (back nine), Doreen McGovern (back six) and Margie O’Connor were only separated by countback scores. Congratulations to all, and also to Junior and Senior Cup team member, Valerie Doyle, on winning the gross with a great score of 29 points, and to ex-lady Captain, Bernadette Cuddihy, on winning the Seniors’ prize.

A well-attended presentation was held in the clubhouse that evening and Paul Boggan presented seven very generous hampers (with speciality wines) donated by Londis, Rosslare.

The ladies’ Burrow course nine-hole competition was very well supported that day also - ten ladies played with Julie O’Brien (wife of ex-Captain, Paud O’Brien) winning with 18 points off a handicap of 24.

Julie has not been playing that long and we are delighted to see her name in the prizes. Well done Julie!

The open Wednesday 18-hole competition is proving very popular as the weather improves, the golf season advances, and the rough is cut back! Twenty-six people played, with clubs as far away as Ballinrobe, Portumna, Powerscourt and Clones being represented.

Congratulations to Fiona Murphy (36) who won with 29 points, and also to Carmel Quinn, Moira Fortune and Ruth Farrell who scoring two-clubs and shared the pot.
