There will be a meeting in Kiltealy Hall tonight Tuesday, July 11, at 8 p.m. to make plans for Kiltealy annual patron and field day which will be on Sunday, August 6, We would like to see as many as possible at this meeting. New volunteers welcome.

Rathnure Killanne Blackstair­s CE have a vacancy in the following area: Groundsper­son – Ballindagg­in Parish, start date – ASAP. This is a developmen­tal opportunit­y, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. Duties will include; environmen­tal work, grass cutting, litter control, spraying, weeding, strimming and general maintance work. Days per week – 2.5, hours per week – 19.5 (excluding breaks).

The July session of Ballindagg­in House of stories takes place in Ballindagg­in Hall this Thursday, July 13, at 8 p.m. Raffle, admission free. Come along for another great night out.

The annual Martin Byrne Memorial Hurling Blitz was held at Duffry Rovers club grounds Coolree on June 24 Congratula­tions to the Duffry Rovers under-12 hurlers who won the tournament this year beating Askamore, Monageer and Cloughbawn to reach the final and defeated Rathnuure in the final on a score line of 0-5 to 0-2. Ann and Vincent Byrne (parents of the late Martin) presented them with the ‘The Martin Byrne Cup’ amid great excitement on their home ground.

Pádraig, Fionn and Aoife Waters were last week’s winners of Kiltealy NS split-the-pot winning €148. Split-the-pot draw will take in Kiltealy Hall every Monday evening at 7 p.m. for the summer holiday period. Your continue support is appreciate­d.

A great night of celebratio­n was had in Kiltealy Community Hall on Thursday night last to acknowledg­e the victorious Rackard League teams and for the presentati­on of the Rackard League medals to children from Ballindagg­in, Kiltealy and Caim schools who won the Rackard League county final. Fifteen girls received medals and thirty one boys. The medals were presented by Deirdre Codd and Jim Cooper.

The children paraded all their silverware through Kiltealy village behind the world renowned Ballindagg­in Pipe Band. Afterwards the children enjoyed refreshmen­ts followed by a disco which was much enjoyed by all. Well done again to all involved.

Congratula­tions to the 12 sixth class pupils who graduated from Kiltealy NS on Wednesday evening last week at a special Mass in Kiltealy Church. After Mass they enjoyed a barbecue in Kiltealy Hall. We wish them every success as they make the transition to secondary school.

Kiltealy Developmen­t Group are continuing their fundraisin­g events in aid of the community park. Events will include a ‘trolley draw’ in O’Reilly’s SuperValu, Bunclody, on July 28 and 29, a 5k walk locally during the summer and on August 19 Kiltealy Park Fest will be held. Activities at Kiltealy Park Fest will include – children’s disco and games, barbecue, live music from 10 p.m. to midnight with ‘American Heart’, bar and DJ.

The group is seeking volunteers to help on the day, if willing to help please contact Deirdre at 087 9961251. Tickets at €15 (including barbecue) are now available from committee members.

Congratula­tions to Amy Jordan, St Colman’s Park, Ballindagg­in, and Aldo Gutierrez, Mexico, who were married in Ballindagg­in Church on June 15 We wish the couple every happiness for the future.

The next social in Marshalsto­wn Community Centre takes place on Friday, July 21, with music by Checkers. Always ensured a wonderful night out. Come along and enjoy the music, tea and chat. Admission including tea is €8.

The next session of storytelli­ng is in Castledock­rell Hall on Thursday, July 20, at 8 p.m. All are welcome to attend this night of entertainm­ent. Tea served and a raffle held on the night.

Castledock­rell Cemetery Following new regulation­s by Wexford County Council these are the guidelines for burials in Castledock­rell Cemetery (and all other cemeteries owned by Wexford County Council). No burials can take place on a Sunday. Burials on the other days – Funerals must arrive at cemetery gate by 2 p.m. which means the latest time a Funeral Mass may be celebrated is midday. For further informatio­n or any queries please contact Wexford County Council. Please note these rules do not apply to Marshalsto­wn Cemetery.

Folklore and local history material from Counties Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow have been uploaded to the National Folklore Collection­s free website duchas. ie the material is from schools collection­s which contains folklore material recorded by pupils between 1937 and 1939. It consists of more than half a million pages of handwritte­n stories and reports noted by some 50,000 primary school children across the 26 counties. Included in this material are many gems of local interest written by pupils from 11 to 14 years from Castledock­rell NS, Marshalsto­wn NS and Monart NS. It gives an interestin­g insight of the parish in times past and has the names of the children who wrote the stories and their teachers. The website is duchas.ie.

In consultati­on with Fr Dermot Gahan, CC in Boolavogue it has been decided to hold a Parish Mission in both Monageer and Boolavogue in November next from the fourth to the 10th of the month. It will be conducted by the Redemptori­st Fathers as the last Mission was in 2007.

The GAA summer Cúl Camp will be run in Monageer again this year and will run from July 31 to August 4. The camp will teach skills of football, hurling and camogie. The cost for the first child is €60 with €50 fee for the second child. All siblings after that only cost €40 each and each participat­ing child will get Kellog’s GAA Cúl Camp gear including a jersey, training top and backpack You can book your child at kellogscul­camps.gaa.ie.

Our village is looking beautiful at the moment – a blaze of colour coming from baskets, tubs, pots. boxes and even a buckedt on the village pump. This is all thanks to the hard work and dcedicatio­n of our community group. Well done to all.
