FR JOSEPH’S JUBILEE

A very special occasion was celebrated in the St Brigit’s Church, Clonegal, recently when a Mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated by Bishop Denis Nulty, Fr Thomas O’Byrne and fellow priests, marking the diamond jubilee of the ordination to the priesthood of Fr Joseph Fleming, who celebrated his 60th anniversary of his ordination on Friday, June 24.

As many of us know him, Fr Fleming has served in the parish of Clonegal and Kildavin since 1996. Many friends and family, nieces and nephews and surrounding areas, attended the unique and special Mass on a gloriously sunny afternoon in the picturesque village.

After Holy Mass the congregation moved to the Spellman Hall, Kildavin, where a superb banquet had been prepared by the women of the parish. The parish presented Fr Fleming with a ticket for the inaugural Kildare and Leighlin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, as a sign of their appreciation for the work he had done.
