First Responders now on call in Craanford

- BY FINTAN LAMBE

The new Craanford Monaseed Cardiac First Responders group is now on call in case of emergency. The volunteers went on duty for the first time during a recent charity run in Craanford.

After a year of hard work, meetings, organising, and training sessions, the group of local volunteers from Craanford-Monaseed is now linked into the National Ambulance Service. They are available to provide support in the community should someone experience chest pain, a stroke or collapse. Once 999 is contacted these local volunteers will be quickly en-route to lend support.

‘New members are always welcome,’ said PRO Suzanne Paisley. ‘Our next training will be in September. If you wish to secure a place, or have any questions, contact group co-ordinator Noeleen Kenny on 087 4104707 or secretary Caroline Kavanagh on 085 2443574.’

They also cover the Hollyfort area and could do with a few more volunteers there.

Sincere thanks went to everyone who gave their time so far to learn to save a life, and triple the chances of survival if someone in the area collapses by giving immediate CPR.

The sponsors were also thanked including: J&K Autos, Craanford; Craanford National School; Monaseed National School; Keith Bailey Haulage; Bailey Brothers Agri Contractors; Craanford parish; all anonymous donations; and the generous Trudi Sinnott and Gummerson family who kindly donated the AED.
