GAA NEWS

The Junior Hurlers took on Tara Rocks in Oylegate on Saturday night last, July 22 and won convincingly by 0-14 to 0-6. James Sweeney, Cathal Walsh and Niall Finn had all shot over points before the opponents managed to score. After missing at least two goal chances our lads went in at the interval a single point ahead, 0-4 to 0-3.

Three points immediately after the resumption stretched this lead with Shane Kehoe, James Gahan and Seán McCabe each scoring. Seán’s point was a wonderful effort, straight over the black spot from a sideline cut. As in the first half, goal chances were squandered but Matthew Dunne, who was being persistently fouled, punished these by scoring point after point from the resulting frees. Near the end our lads had built up a nine point lead but Tara Rocks scored their eight point with the last puck of the game. This gives our lad two wins from three games and they still have to face Horeswood and Bannow.

Team: Morgan Gahan, Paddy Walsh, Ray O’Brien, James Breen, Lee McHale, Paddy Breen, Robbie Donnelly, Shane Kehoe, Stephen Lacey, Adrian O’Dowd, Matthew Dunne, Cathal Walsh, James Gahan, Niall Finn, James Sweeney.
