GAA CLUB NOTES

A clear victory for the adult first Hurling team over Liam Mellows in round two of championsh­ip last Saturday. Great recent victories for the under-12+ under-14 + under-16 girls’ footballer­s. The under-14 camogie girls, having done so well getting to the county semi-final, came second to Oylegate, also last Saturday. However, the under-14 girls’ footballer­s are in another county semi-final, this time in Duffry Rovers pitch on Sunday the August 6 at 6 p.m. Support welcome.

Fixtures: Tuesday, August 1, under-12 boys (two teams) play Naomh Eanna in Kilanerin at 7.30 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, under-18 boys’ footballer­s are in Kilrush at 7.30 p.m. Sunday, August 6, Adult B footballer­s v Kilmore in Patricks Park at 1.30 p.m.

Team of the week is shared between the boys under-8 and under-10s, who have both being winning games in recent blitz played in both codes. It is the turn of the under-8 and under-10 girls, with their big blitz being held in Kilanerin, on Sat the 12th. Guaranteed great entertainm­ent that morning.

There was no jackpot winner in the lotto draw of July 17. There were three match-three winners. The numbers were 4, 13, 20 and 27.

WHIST

First lady at last week’s whist was won by Mary McCarthy; second lady was Marie Cushe; third lady was Mary Lee and half time lady was Nancy Forde; First gent was George Gilbert; second gent was Michael Murphy; third gent was donal Kavanagh and half time gent was Beta Gahan. Student winner on the night was Ross Bailey; raffle winners on the night were Willie Lee Eilish Murphy and Mary Lee Whist continues on Wednesday night at 8.30 p.m.

Dancing at the Crossroads returns to Noel Murphys Yard on Saturday, August 19 – fun for all the family, Representa­tives of KIlanerin Tidy Towns will be calling to your door in the coming weeks hoping for your support with our annual raffle which will be held on the night, thanks to our sponsors for the prizes.
