Boolavogue

Congratulations to Sue Cox, who scooped the €2,200 jackpot in the Monageer-Boolavogue GAA draw held in the club complex in Monageer on Tuesday last, July 25. Sue’s lucky numbers were 7, 10, 20 and 23. No one else had even three of these numbers so the match-three prize of €160 was not won.
The next draw takes place on Tuesday night next, August 8, at 9.30 p.m. in Monageer and the jackpot has been set to €2,000 for this draw. Tickets can be had from all club members and local businesses. Your continuing generous support is much appreciated.

UNDER-21 HURLING
On Tuesday last, July 25, the under-21 hurlers lost the district final to a tough and talented Duffry Rovers team by 3-20 to 1-12. The early stages saw the sides well matched and Diarmud Fenlon was particuarly impressive, picking off stylish points. But a goal for the Duffry gave them heart and by the half-time whistle, they were 1-11 to 0-6 ahead.
Even thought the Duffry lads were well in control in the second-half, out lads never stopped trying and were unlucky not to have at least two more goals in the net. Nine of the starting team are minors and only one player on the team, Graham O’Reilly will be overage next year leaving us with a very keen and experienced under-21 squad next year. Aaron Breslin, Graham O’Reilly, David Mernagh and Diarmuid Fenlon were impressive throughout the game.
Team: Art Sinnott, Mícheál Gahan, Graham O’Reilly, Seán O’Leary, Aaron Breslin, Robbie Donnelly, Lee McHale, Shane Gahan, Ian Hawkins, Ciarán Rochford, Cathal Walsh, Colm McGannon, David Mernagh, Diarmuid Fenlon, Pauric Walsh. Subs: Daire Walsh, Adam Dunne, Cathal O’Leary.
JUNIOR HURLING
On Saturday, July 29, the Junior Hurlers recorded their second success in as many outings, beating Crossabeg-Ballymurn in Monamolin. They lead by a single point, 0-8 to 0-7 at half-time, coming back from a three point deficit, thanks to the accuracy of Laurence Murphy and Brian ‘Bro’ O’Loughlin.
Immediately after the resumption, the sides were level only for our lads to pull two points ahead. They replied with a well-worked goal to reclaim the lead and it was only the goalkeeping skills of Seán Murphy that prevented them from pulling even further ahead. In the end, we were a single point ahead, just like last week, with splendid scores coming from Brian O’Loughlin, Shane Gahan and Diarmuid Fenlon.
Team: Seán Murphy, Liam Gahan, Chris Daly, Niall O’Reilly, Graham O’Reilly, Mick Sweeney, Tommy Breen, Ian Hawkins, Laurence Murphy, Stephen Murphy, Damien Fenlon, Cathal Walsh, Diarmuid Fenlon, Brian O’Loughlin, Shane Gahan. Subs: Colm O’Loughlin, Peter Mernagh,
