Funding worth €150,000 for childcare services

THE allocation of funding worth over €150,000 to improve childcare services in Wexford has been welcomed by Minister Michael D’Arcy.

Local facilities to receive funding under the scheme include: Rathnure Playgroup; A SHOWERY wet day wasn’t going to stop the energetic teams that pulled a boat all the way from Kilmuckrid­ge to Morriscast­le beach and back, or the bucket collectors who encouraged spectators to dig deep for Rosslare RNLI Lifeboat.

The heavens opened just as Rosslare Lifeboat arrived at the beach to greet the boat pullers, but the event continued regardless. The benefit night in Hammel’s Lounge was packed to capacity later that day, and organiser Eddie Sin- Hazy Dayz Childcare Centre; Ferns Diocesan Youth Services Ltd; Bright Beginnings Pre-school; St Enda’s NS, Ballycanew; and Carraig Briste Childcare Centre.

‘We are determined to reach out to parents and inform them of the supports nott was delighted to reveal that this year’s event raised even more than last year – up from €11,600 to around €14,000.

Sincere thanks went to all who supported the day including the boat pullers; bucket collectors; Joe, Bridie, and Peter Hammel; Nicky and Frances in The Crosses; the sponsors of spot prizes and auction items; musician Padraig Mangan; the volunteer crew of Rosslare Lifeboat; anyone who helped in any way on the day; and all who gave donations.

The proceeds will be presented to the RNLI shortly. that will be available to them from this September,’ commented Minister D’Arcy, pictured left. ‘The funding announced for School Aged Childcare services, totalling over €150,000 here in Wexford, will be used for the establishm­ent of new SAC services as well as the expansion of existing services.’
