ANNUAL BARBECUE

Ballyduff Developmen­t Group’s annual fundraisin­g barbecue will take place on Saturday, September 16, in the Courtyard, Ferns; with music by Last Orders and some of our very talented Local Lip Syncers, who will be looking for your support on the night. Tickets are €10 and are on sale at the moment. Door prizes and a fun night guaranteed. All support is greatly appreciate­d.

LADIES’ CLUB

The Ladies’ Club meet again on Wednesday, September 13, following the summer break and will continue to meet on the second Wednesday of every month. We hope everyone had a lovely summer and look forward to seeing meeting up again. New members are always welcome.

DEVELOPMEN­T GROUP

We continue to meet from 7 p.m. on Monday evenings to work on this year’s projects and to tidy our village. Follow us on Facebook and on ballyduffv­illage.com website. Thanks to everyone who continues to collect litter along our roads and we still to ask homeowners to clean the stretch of road 20 meters on both sides of your property as we continue to work to keep our roads litter-free for the North Wexford 2K Clean.

ST PIO MASS

The annual healing Mass at St Aidan’s Ferns will take place on Friday, September 22, at 7.30 p.m. Blessings with the relics of Saint Pio will be administer­ed.

SOCIAL DANCING

The next social in Marshalsto­wn Community Centre takes place on Friday, September 15, with music by the mighty duo from Meath Done and Dusted. Doors open at 9.30 p.m. Dancing starts at 10 p.m. with tea at 11 p.m. Come along and meet some old friends, make some new friends and enjoy the music and dancing. Admission is €8 including tea, buns and currant bread.

JUNIOR CERT

Best of luck to all students from the parish, who will receive the results of their Junior Certificat­e during the coming week.

STORYTELLI­NG

The next session of storytelli­ng is in Castledock­rell Hall on Thursday, September 21, at 8 p.m. All are welcome to attend storytelli­ng so do come along and experience a lovely night’s entertainm­ent. Refreshmen­ts served and a raffle held each night.

FCJ CLASS REUNION

FCJ Secondary School, Bunclody class of ‘77 is holding a reunion in the Riverside Park, Hotel, Enniscorth­y on Saturday, November 18. It would be appreciate­d if family members and friends would pass on this informatio­n. Group co-ordinator is Clare Byrne Doyle (087 4151350).

Rest In Peace: Deepest sympathy to the Redmond family, Ballygalve­rt on the death of their parents both of whom were buried in Rathnure; Paddy, who was buried on August 30 and Ciss, who was buried after Mass in St Anne’s Church on September 7. May they Rest In Peace.

SENIOR SOCIAL CLUB

Senior Social Club starts back on Thursday the 14th, new members are very welcome. Come along for tea, chats and a lot of fun.

BINGO

Bingo is played every Tuesday night at 8.30 p.m. in Rathnure hall. Rathnure Bingo is active on Facebook, search ‘Rathnure Bingo’ and like our page. Thank you. The bingo jackpot on Tuesday the 12th is €4,300.

SCHOOL REUNION

We are organising a 25-year Rathnure National School reunion for anyone who started in 1984 or finished in 1992. The venue is of course Conrans on Friday, October 27, from 7.30 p.m. till closing. GOLF CLASSIC

Many thanks to all those who supported the recent golf classic. The sun was shining and a great day was had by all. Particular thanks to the organising team for their hard work.

GAA CLUB LOTTO

The numbers drawn last Tuesday the fifth were 3, 11, 24 and 27. There was no jackpot winner. Seán Redmond, Newtown and Sandra and Edel, Ballywilli­am were the two match-three winners who each won €100. The jackpot this week is €15,000 while the reserve jackpot now stands at €6,000.

COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT

MUSICAL THEATRE

Names are now being taken for Musical Theatre Class in Raheen Hall.

Covering all aspects of stage, drama, movement/dance and singing as well as lots of games and improvisat­ion fun. Thursday evenings (starting September 14) at 5 p.m. to 5.45 p.m. for five- to eight-year-olds; 5.45 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. for nine- to 12-yearolds. Call 086 1073841 to register.
