Gorey Musical Society is off to see the wizard

-

AS Gorey Musical Society prepares to be whisked off to the Land of Oz next year, a special event will be held in Gorey Library on Saturday, November 11, at 2.30 p.m.

The Society is inviting children and adults along to the launch of ‘The Wizard of Oz, which will involve a fun afternoon of tales from Oz with Martina and a sing-along with some characters from the show. This will be followed by a walk on Gorey’s Main Street, so fancy dress is welcome.

Gorey Musical Society’s 54th show will play at Gorey Little Theatre next April, and will be directed by Michael Dunbar, with musical director Conor McCarthy, and choreographer Clodagh Leacy. The launch will serve as a taster for the show which will soon begin rehearsals. A large cast is needed.

Auditions for adults will take place in the Masonic Hall on the Avenue on Saturday, November 11, at 6 p.m. Auditions for children, 8 years and upwards, will take place in Gorey Little Theatre on Sunday, November 12, at 10.30 a.m.

For over 50 years, Gorey Musical Society has staged many wonderful productions, and helped send many talented stars on their way to West End theatres and beyond.

They say ‘The Wizard of Oz’ is a magical show for the young and the not so young, and they are looking forward to meeting everyone at Gorey Library on Saturday, November 11, at 2.30 p.m. where people can register their interest in taking part. See Gorey Musical Society on Facebook for more information.
