Kilrush drama

Kilrush Drama Group will stage its Autumn production in Ballyroebu­ck Hall from Tuesday, October 17, to Saturday, October 21. Online skills

Vinegar Hill

The North Wexford Historical Society lecture in Gorey Library on Thursday, October 19, at 7.30 p.m. will focus on the Battle of Vinegar Hill in light of recent geological survey findings. Entry free to all members. New members very welcome for a season fee of €15.

Work matters

Gorey Library will host a series of employment and business workshops, starting on Thursday, October 19, at 7 p.m. Entreprene­ur and personal developmen­t coach Alan Maher will present three employment and business workshops starting on October 19 with how to complete an effective CV, cover letter or applicatio­n form.

Book launch

Kilmuckrid­ge based author Sheila Forsey will launch her debut novel ‘Mending Lace’ on Friday, October 20, in The Book Centre, Wexford. It will be officially launched by best-selling author Carmel Harrington.

The Jarveys

The Jarveys play at the Orphan Girl, Ballymoney, on Friday, October 20, at 9 p.m. in aid of the Courtown Hibs pitch developmen­t fund. Tickets are €15.

Gym Club

Gorey Gymnastics Club is celebratin­g its 40th anniversar­y this year. The club is holding an open day on Saturday, October 21, and is looking for old and current photos from past and present members for a display in the club. Spinathon

Club Amber in the Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey, will host a 24-hour charity pool-bike spinathon on Saturday, October 21, in support of Cycle Against Suicide. Bróga Nua

On Saturday, October 21, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., in Gorey Library, Áine Ní Shúilleabh­án will present Bróga Nua for families. Rhymes, songs, music and movement are vital tools in the acquisitio­n of a second language. Booking essential.

Variety show

Special Olympics Club Gorey Area will host a variety show of local musicians and dancers on Saturday, October 21, at 8 p.m. in Gorey Little Theatre. Acts include Des Tobin, Luke Cosgrave, James Reid, The DC, Michelle Delmar, Mary Gregsby, Street Beat, SOCGA Choir, and much more. This is to help fund club athletes who have qualified for the Ireland Games next June. Ticket are €10 for adults and €5 for children/ OAP/students, and are available on the night or by phoning 085 7456565. The show is sponsored by Faylinn Montessori School and Crèche.

Cricket AGM

Gorey Cricket Club’s AGM will take place on Monday, October 23, at 7.30 p.m. in the Loch Garman Arms. All are welcome to attend.

Aidan’s AGM

St Aidan’s Day Care Centre will hold its Annual General Meeting in the canteen at St. Aidan’s, Millands, Gorey, on Monday, October 23 at 7.30 p.m. Tea and coffee will be served afterwards. The minutes of the 2016 AGM and accounts are available at St. Aidan’s reception.

Coolgreany Amateur Dramatic Society will stage its first affiliated one act drama festival in St Mogue’s Hall, Inch from Friday, October 27 to Sunday, October 29.

Charity film

A short film primarily filmed in North Wexford will be given a charity screening in Movies@Gorey on Thursday, November 16, at 7 p.m. Tickets are €10 and proceeds go to St Aidan’s Day Care Centre and Pethelpers.ie,

‘The Lion’s Share’ was directed by Owen O’Gorman, and stars talented Gorey actors including Aisling O’Neill, Liz Lloyd, and Richard Lister. Film locations included Gorey Little Theatre, Knockbawn House, Coolgreany, and Kia Ora Mini Farm.
